{AD} Focusing on my wellbeing with Scentered – Mummascribbles

{AD – gifted – I was sent products from Scentered for the purpose of this review}

I don’t know about you, but life is chaotic here. I mentioned on my Instagram the other day, that I feel like I’m pulled from pillar to post with all the things I have to do and remember. Who has swimming on what day, who has PE, what after-school activities they do, what birthday parties they have to go to. And that’s on top of the stuff that we do ourselves – I play netball on a Monday, go Zumba on a Wednesday, and Dean goes to the office now twice a week. And on top of that, we have been decorating! Transforming parts of our house, and it has taken up so much of my time. Oh, and I’ve had loads of VA work to do – so quite frankly, my brain is pretty frazzled. I never really spend a moment drifting. Never let my brain rest. Never give my mind any focus.

I was recently sent a gorgeous package from Scentered to help me work on my mindfulness. To help me just take a moment, breathe, and relax. You see Scentered have created a beautiful blend of aromatherapy balms that are designed exactly for this. They support and enhance a change of habit through a unique wellbeing ritual, and they teach us how to use our sense of smell as a tool to direct our thoughts and emotions to live happier lives.

Sounds a bit woo doesn’t it, but honestly, it is exactly what I needed.

I was sent the Signature Ritual Collection which is a gorgeous set of balms. They each have a different focus area – escape, focus, sleep well, happy, and de-stress. The way they work is that you apply the balm to your pulse points on your wrist and neck, inhale deeply, and reset your mood.

Do they work? Well, yes actually they do.

The first time I used one of them was when I was feeling really anxious. I think I was watching too much Covid talk on the news, and I could feel myself getting worked up, scared, worried, feeling clammy, and my heart was racing. I thought it was the perfect time to try the De-Stress balm. So I rubbed it onto my temples and just spent some time on the sofa, taking some deep breaths, while smelling the scent, closing my eyes, and taking my mind somewhere else that wasn’t anything to do with the horrible situation that we have found ourselves in. And before I knew it, I felt so much calmer. I really did. Honestly, I am one of these people that really struggles with the whole mindfulness thing, but I did feel calmer, and if at any point that evening I started feeling worked up again, I just took some more deep breaths. I even popped a bit of the Sleep-Well balm on that night because I could sense that I was going to have trouble getting to sleep with my mind racing, and when I went to bed, I nodded off super quick.

The balms are full of aromatherapy oils that smell utterly amazing. You can smell them before you’ve even opened the case – I could smell them when I opened the packaging box! The Happy one is probably my favourite as it has grapefruit, lemon myrtle and spearmint. It is an amazing zesty smell and makes me happy just to get a whiff of it!

The De-Stress balm has chamomile, neroli, and mandarin, the Focus Balm has rosemary mint and clary sage – there isn’t one that doesn’t smell utterly divine.

Scentered also does a range of candles and I was lucky to receive the Sleep-Well one, which is infused with palmarosa, lavender, and ylang-ylang. It smells utterly divine and is the perfect night-time treat with a luxurious bath! The candle should be used 2 hours prior to bedtime and when lit, you should breathe deeply to let go of everyday stresses and tensions. It is so relaxing and is the perfect thing to add to a mindfulness routine – especially if you are someone that has trouble switching off and going to sleep.

Scentered does other products like body and hand wash, luxury bathrobes, and they even have shampoo and conditioner coming soon. You can find all their products over on their website and they would make a fabulous present for someone who is looking to introduce a bit of mindfulness routine into their lives, or for someone you know who struggles to switch off.

I think the pandemic has taught us a lot about taking more care of ourselves and switching off a bit more, and whilst it seems to be all systems go with the going back to normality, I think it is really important to remember what is important – and that is us, our health, and our minds.
