#Blogtober17 day 26 – Zoo – Mummascribbles

Back in May I wrote a post about how Zach really wasn’t interested in animals, and that whenever we went to any kind of zoo or animal park, all he wanted to do was play on whatever play equipment was there. We were hugely disappointed; we love visiting these places ourselves, and with Oscar absolutely loving animals, it was something we were looking forward to doing as a family of four. Suddenly we had a child who found it all very boring!

I mentioned in that post that the other half had been hoping to visit a safari park when we went on holiday in July but that it probably wasn’t worth it. I can confirm that the trip did not take place and he was saddened (even though we had loads of fun elsewhere!).

However!

Something has changed.

I am not sure if it’s enough of a change to warrant a trip to the zoo (since we really want to head back to Colchester and it’s a fair old drive to get there so needs to be worth it!).

But, a small breeds zoo has opened up in one of our local parks and well, Zach is totally interested in it. If ever we go there, he wants to know if we are going in time for the animals to be open. If they aren’t, he always seems disappointed. And if they are, it is always the first thing he wants to do when we get there.

He looks on at the birds and smiles at how they all sit on the rope together.

He stares at the owls and tries to see if they are awake or sleeping.

He squeaks with joy over the Meerkats and the Skunks.

And he stares into the pond to see if there are any frogs or tadpoles hovering around.

It is almost, almost like he is enjoying it as much as his little brother who is there squealing with delight!

And so we have our fingers crossed that given time, he will fall in love with looking at the lions and the tigers, the penguins and the elephants!

Baby steps!
