Confessions of a pram-oholic – Mummascribbles

My name is Lisa and I am a pram-oholic.

There, I’ve said it.

You will no doubt have seen the story of the dad who wrote the most fantastic description of his Phil and Ted’s Explorer Double. It’s less about the buggy itself and more about the life that came with having children and therefore the buggy! If you haven’t seen it, I would recommend a read because it is hilarious, there are now a bunch of equally hilarious comments and it’s currently being bid for at £156,000! You can find it here for a laugh.

Anyway, I posted a link to this on Facebook and tagged my other half knowing that he would find it funny and his second reply was, also take note, 3 kids and one buggy, not the other way round!

Which is what has inspired this post.

Now, I know that I am not alone in my pram-oholic-ness.

I can’t be.

It’s impossible.

I am pretty sure there are ladies out there that have been through even more Confessions of a pram-oholicprams/buggies than me. Here’s where it all began.

When I was a young girl, I adored prams. I had my own Silver Cross dolls pram and I happily pushed it round with my dolls in it, sometimes teddies and a couple of times, the Yorkshire Terrier from next door!

When my sister had my nephew, I wanted to push the pram everywhere! I hogged it because I just love pushing a pram!

So, it was inevitable that when I had my own baby I would be pram obsessed.

We started out with our tank. The Silver Cross 3D. We called it our tank because it was like a 4×4 and it was fab. We went walking a lot and it survived hundreds of stones, mud, snow; you name it, it lived through it. That was until we completely battered it! It is still in the shed for a just in case situation (which we had two weekend’s ago but stupidly didn’t use it!), because it still works even though it takes a bit of effort to put it up! Also, once Zach got bigger and heavier, this got heavier to push and it was all a little too much effort.

Next up was an iCandy Cherry. I got this second hand and had to make a complete case to the other half for buying it. Once I told him what good nick it was in, that it was fantastically lightweight and was an absolute bargain, I was allowed to buy it. We’ve had it for a good year and then, once again it all started to get a bit much. I am regularly taking whatever buggy we have out of the car and back into the car again and when the other half does the nursery run, he has to leave it by the nursery front door and also get it on a bus. On the basis that it doesn’t fold down in one piece, it was getting a little annoying. That, and it was filthy!

Over Christmas, we agreed that we needed a new small, lightweight buggy and so when in Mothercare for something entirely different, we saw one of the Joie electric blue buggy’s for half price. So we bought it.

And that’s where we are. One child, three different variations of transport for him! One in the shed, one in the loft and one in the boot (I can’t throw any of them away!). And that’s why he said to take note about the 3 kids and one buggy, not the other way round!

And still, I cannot go into Mothercare without looking round the beautiful prams and pushchairs.

I am simply obsessed!
