Free time – Mummascribbles
Whilst this conference has so far been pretty intense, today was our first afternoon of free time. We do have some free time later in the week so we didn’t rush out into San Francisco as we are pretty shattered! My boss had been here back in January and had been taken out to a restaurant in Downtown Berkeley called Jupiter and had said it was the most amazing pizza she had ever eaten, so we went to check it out with her this afternoon and it did not disappoint. It was quite possibly one of the tastiest things I have ever eaten and went down perfectly with a couple of glasses of Sauvignon Blanc in the sunshine!
Afterwards, we had a walk around Downtown (which turned into a rather long walk), before we headed back to the hotel which is where I am now! Downtown Berkeley was interesting! I wasn’t sure what to expect but I guess in a way it’s a lot like London…just way more laid back! There were people from all walks of life, lots of street sellers and one man creating huge bubbles (Zach would have loved that!). Lots of cars, huge roads, but in between it all, some of the most gorgeous houses. I love American houses as they have so much character about them. We happened to walk past an estate agents and we couldn’t believe how expensive it is! I would definitely say it is on a par, if not more expensive than London!
I saw this mega cute Hummingbird buzzing around right in front of me earlier on! I’ve been keeping my eyes out for wildlife that I wouldn’t normally see back home and up until today all I’d seen was a dead lizard being eaten by ants so this was a nice little spot!
A bit gutted tonight as I was hoping to watch the Great British Bake off final on BBC iPlayer when I got back to my room, but stupid me didn’t know that it doesn’t work outside of the UK. Thus, 2 minutes later I found out who won and now it’s been completely ruined. Thanks iPlayer!
I’ve had a couple of lovely little chats with the men in my life back home. I had a slightly later night last night and managed to catch them waking up as I was heading off to sleep! Nothing like seeing my sleepy munchkin just before I doze off!
I then caught him just before he went to bed tonight (about 11am US time) and thanks to me knowing most of the words to his favourite book Digger Dog, I read him his bedtime story It’s amazing what you can still do from 5000 miles away!
I’ve also had a few photos from the other half today to keep me getting through missing my boy. This is my absolute favourite – a perfect autumn photo.
Only 4.5 days till I get to see him in the flesh!
