Living Arrows 2021 – Week 10 – Mummascribbles

“You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth”

It was the last week of homeschool! And probably the hardest by far! For Zach, because with zero support from school (they stopped remote learning because so many kids were back in the classroom), his motivation had dwindled massively. And for me, because I spent the week wondering if I was going to get his school place confirmed by the end of it. I didn’t know whether we would be going into this week still home schooling or not! Thankfully, first thing on Friday morning I got the email to say a place had been allocated for him and he could start on Monday. Phew!

Poor Oscar though. I haven’t sorted out a nursery place for him because I just wanted to see where Zach was going to school first! So he was feeling a bit jealous that he doesn’t get to go anywhere on Monday. I have however sent off my enquiry, so hopefully I will hear this week whether I can get a place or not. It’ll probably do him some good though to have a bit of one on one time with me for a short time!

My photo of Zach this week is of course him celebrating the end of homeschooling. I called an inset day on Friday because I just knew I wasn’t going to get any work out of him, but he has done absolutely amazing over the past few months and definitely deserved this certificate that the lovely School As A Cucumber sent over to me!

My photo of Oscar this week signifies what happens on most of our walks these days! He is really good on those little legs of his, but when it all gets too much and he spots a bench or a log to rest on, he rests! He’ll say to me “I just need a little rest Mummy”, and goes over and makes himself comfortable! This photo was from quite a short walk the other evening when he decided he wanted to walk the dog with me. It was only about half an hour but he decided he needed a little rest before finishing the remainder of the short walk back home again!

This week now brings the return to school. The return of a routine. It is something we all need and while I am going to miss having Zach at home so much, I can’t wait to just be Mum again and not teacher!
