Mummascribbles – 32 weeks pregnant – baby number two – Mummascribbles
It’s been yet another four weeks since my last pregnancy update and I just don’t know where the time is going. Suddenly I am 32 weeks. That means that I am just 8 weeks away from my due date and three weeks (tomorrow) from my last day at work.
So, what’s been happening?
Nesting
Serious nesting has been taking place. Initially I was going to do all of the washing of baby clothes when I finished work but after we got everything down from the loft, I couldn’t help myself! It didn’t help that I wasn’t at all organised when I put everything up in the loft and so I had to go through every bag and sort them into sizes. Some were a bit pongy, having been sat up in the loft for 3 years and I felt like I needed to take advantage of days when there was no rain! This means that my poor washing machine hasn’t known what’s hit it and there have been lots of small clothes hanging on the line! I think that pretty much everything is washed now and the older stuff is stored away in boxes with me just needing to tidy up the drawers of newborn – 3 months. I can’t believe how much we have!
Deliveries
Possibly the most exciting thing that has happened in these four weeks was a very special delivery. Our pram has arrived! I am super thrilled to be working with UPPAbaby for a review of their Vista 2015 and I am so excited! It is such a gorgeous pram and I cannot wait for little man to be all snug in it!
More exciting deliveries were my birthing ball and a baby bath!! I still need to order the Snuzpod which is the only other big thing we really need. Oooo and I almost forgot the delivery of my changing bag which I got in the sale at Mothercare – that was very exciting!
Appointments
First appointment was my 31 week one with the midwife. I think I mentioned previously that they are seeing me as much as they did with my first pregnancy so that they can monitor baby’s position. Last time I went, baby was transverse and it didn’t feel like much had changed. Turns out I was wrong because in total surprise to me, the midwife was 95% sure that he is head down! I almost screamed in delight even though I know that he may end up turning again! It was so lovely to hear those words for the first time since the 20 week scan! He is such a wriggler though that I don’t trust him to stay where he is. He is such a mover, my belly jolts out in all sorts of positions!
That was the good news. In bad news the results of my blood test came back showing that I have slight anaemia. The midwife wasn’t happy when I said I hadn’t been taking my vitamins (I know, I’m naughty) and told me to make sure I start them up again. Then, a few days later I received a phone call from the doctors to say that my prescription was ready for collection. Confused, I went along anyway and it’s for iron tablets. Because the midwife hadn’t mentioned these, I dropped her a text to make sure I should be taking them and the answer was yes. So now I need to take these 3 times a day. Boooo! My next appointment is at 34 weeks and further bloods will be taken at 36 to check my iron levels.
The other appointment I had was with the lovely Sarah from Vesta Birth and Parenting. It was all about attempting to have a successful vbac and you can read all about that appointment here.
Heatwave
OMG it has been hot! Far far too hot for me even when I’m not pregnant. I have been sweltering and so I worked from home on Tuesday (when it was 32 degrees!), and then only made it half way to work on Wednesday before I gave in to the heat of the tube, turned around and returned home again. I just couldn’t bear the underground. Today is much cooler and I have successfully made it into the office!
I think that’s pretty much it for this update, I’ll see you in another 4 weeks when I’ll be 36 weeks. I may even have a hospital bag packed by then!
