Mummascribbles – A wonderful Easter weekend – Mummascribbles
Another Easter has happened. Four whole days at home with my little family and tomorrow is time for back to work. How does it feel like it was a normal two day weekend? We have had a wonderful long weekend together, full of such simple things…lots of food, more chocolate than Zach has probably eaten in his entire life so far and way too many episodes of Dora and Friends in the city! So what did we do? Here’s a little rundown!
Good Friday
This was of course the nicest day of the week. Had we of known, we may have made other plans like a trip to the farm or a nice country walk. Of course, we made plans to decorate our bedroom and had already arranged for the grandparents to come over and look after Zach whilst we were busy painting!
We have wanted to decorate our bedroom since we moved in and it was originally on the plans for last year. Lots of other stuff got in the way though and we didn’t get round to it. We were adamant though that whilst we are in the position to be able to do it financially and before baby number two arrives, we’d get it done now! It was a close call as to whether the paint would be delivered to the Homebase across the road in time but thankfully early on Friday morning, the other half got the text message and nipped to get them. We then set about preparing the room (which was fun with Zach buzzing around), and then once the grandparents arrived we got onto painting. We have gone purple and the absolutely love the shade we have chosen (Crown’s violet plum).

We have the wallpaper to go up on the feature wall but didn’t get a chance to get this up so the father in law is heading over at the weekend again to help with that! After that it’s all about the furniture and we have chosen what we want from Ikea. It’s just a matter of ordering and putting it all together. Oh and then we need curtains. So whilst the decorating is started, it is nowhere near complete!
By the end of Friday, I discovered that I had pushed my body beyond what it is currently capable of and was in quite a bit of pain! Luckily we knew we’d be knackered and had a couple of giant Chicago Town pizzas in the freezer! And then we slept!
Saturday
The other half had already made plans to go to the pub with his dad and brother but then it turned out they were going out a lot later than originally planned so we managed to squeeze in some shop trips! First up was Hobbycraft so I could get lots of bits for Zach’s Easter egg hunt this year! Then we went to Ikea to look at the wardrobes. Zach loves Ikea and mostly went around turning the lamps on and off in each room design! In the end though, it all got too much and he was exhausted! I was starving and quickly ran into the Tesco next door to grab a hot sausage roll and some crisps. Then we dropped the other half at the pub, Zach fell asleep and had a tantrum when we got home because he hadn’t been awake when we got to the pub and he wanted to take daddy back to the pub again! Oh joys!

We then had a simple afternoon together and he fell asleep just as daddy got home.
Easter Sunday
Well, the day after the clocks went forward and it felt like we had a lay in when Zach woke up at 8am. Which to be fair, was a lay in. I can’t remember the last time he woke up at 7am (which is what it technically was!). We all went downstairs and we asked Zach if he thought maybe the Easter Bunny had been. He started having a look around, spotted the first egg and was then on a mission to find the other seven. He did brilliantly and then had a field day opening each one.

I had put a little tiny chocolate egg in each one which thrilled him! We let him eat two and then that was it! Yep, I’m mean and also sensible. The boy goes crazy on chocolate!
Later we went off to mum’s for dinner. My sister and her family were also there and we had a yummy Roast Beef dinner with quite possibly, the best yorkshire puddings I have ever seen! Well done again mum!

We had such a wonderful day catching up. We don’t see them very often altogether so it was really lovely. Even if the two cousins did start winding each other up after an hour! It’s not easy to believe that there’s a ten year age gap between them when they are both whining haha!
Bank Holiday Monday And here we are on today. With storm Katie blowing gale force winds outside, I made the other half nip to the shops for me haha! Meanwhile Zach had a special moment with my pregnant tummy in which he said that the hole left from my belly button piercing was the baby’s eye!
