Mummascribbles – Blogging goals for 2017 – Mummascribbles

It’s that time when we have done our reflecting of the year gone by and start looking to the year ahead and thinking about what we want. As a blogger, there are so many things to do and there is always another step to being bigger and better. I am usually a bit rubbish with blogging goals but I need to make 2017 my biggest and best year yet. It’s important to make achievable goals so I don’t feel like I am forever aiming for things that are beyond the realms but at the same time, I need to have everything aiming to one main goal.

My goal for 2017 is to not go back to the office job.

That in itself is a major goal and as my maternity pay ends at the end of May, it doesn’t give me much time. We are in a much better position than we were when we had Zach and I now only need to earn a part time wage to help cover costs. I already earn from my blog but it is not yet consistent enough that I can solely blog. I will need to earn money elsewhere but the more money I can make through my blog, the less I’ll need to earn away from home and from my boys. The dream is to be the one doing the school run when Zach starts in September. So, what are my small goals that will help get me to where I want to be. There are a lot of things that I need to do to be better!

Goal 1 – Promotion
This is the key thing for me. I am useless at promoting my posts and sometimes don’t do any more than the first Facebook and Twitter post when a blog post goes live. I need to share my posts more and so I will be scheduling regular updates when I schedule a post. That way, if I do it straight away then I don’t have to think about it again.

Goal 2 – Structure
I really need more of a structure to my blogging. Because I have a small baby and a four year old who only goes to nursery two days a week, finding a structure can be hard. Quite often Oscar decides he wants to spend the entire evening suckling on my right nipple which means that my right arm (the typing one) is totally out of use. As I am writing this, he is fast asleep on my left arm which is fine but it takes a lot longer to type one handed (though I am definitely getting faster!). If I can put a schedule in place in the times when I know I should be able to blog then it will help me to be more proactive at those times.

Goal 3 – Increase followers By the end of 2017 I want to have increased my follower numbers. My biggest way of doing this will be to set up a regular newsletter, thus increasing my subscribers. This is one of the first things that I am going to do this year.

I also want to increase my social media. I have quite a large following already on Twitter but Facebook and Instagram could do with a regular boost. The follower numbers I want to increase to is:
