Mummascribbles – End of year review – my top 5 blogs – Mummascribbles
There’s nothing like sharing a bit of blog love and boy have I been reading some fantastic blogs this year. Now the year is coming to an end, I give to you my top five blogs (as X Factor would say…in no particular order!).
I had the pleasure of meeting and hanging out with Jess at BritMums earlier in the year and she is definitely up there among my favourite bloggers. Her blog has come on leaps and bounds in the past few months and it is visually beautiful. From the styling, to the photography, and the incredible writing; Jess draws you in with her words and imagery to leave you wanting more. She has worked so hard on her blog and has had some amazing opportunities come her way as a result. She now writes a weekly diary for New Home Finder, is ranked #102 in the Tots charts, #22 in the HIBS charts and has recently been featured in the bloggers corner of Very magazine (which goes out with OK). On top of all of that, she somehow finds time to be a mummy to 3 year old twins!
Caro is another of my very good blogging buddies who is also my former Twinkly Tuesday co-host. Another twin mummy, her blog is full of wonderfully written posts about her home, her boys and the fun they have as a family. Among other things, Caro is a Rose Grey style ambassador, a Camp Bestival official blogger and is ranked #153 in the Tots charts and #31 in the HIBS. She is also an award wining blogger, having been crowned with the title of Blogging Edge’s Best Interior Design Blogger 2015. Along with blogging and being a twin mummy, Caro runs her own business from home making beautiful prints and papercuts.
If you are looking for a bit of humour in your life, Katy’s blog is the way to go. She writes absolutely hilarious posts about being a mother, about her children and about being a woman. Alongside these, she creates fantastic drawings that just have you laughing out loud. Katy is a Huffpost blogger, has been featured on the Tots 100 site and was a finalist in the Brilliance in Blogging Fresh Voice category. Katy is mum to two children and has the best ‘about me’ page I have yet to come across!
Louise is one of two bloggers that has managed to make me cry with her writing. She writes on such a huge array of topics including her own battle with depression, her life as a family of three and her life as a part-time neonatal nurse. She often writes about her experiences in the neonatal ward with such beauty, such eloquence and such compassion. She has been featured in the Tots100 Fresh Five – Blogs to Make You Think, is a regular Huffpost contributor and in 2015 she was shortlisted in the ‘Fresh Voice’ category for the BIB (Brilliance in Blogging) Awards and the ‘Bereavement Worker’ category for the Butterfly Awards. She was also a keynote speaker at BritMums Live 2015 where she bravely read out her post Twinkle Twinkle. Louise is a mummy to squidge and I was so chuffed to meet her and give her the biggest hug that she so deserves.
Julia is the second of the two bloggers that have made me cry. In March 2015 her husband Roger was diagnosed with bowel cancer and he sadly lost his battle in July. Julia has courageously documented Roger’s illness among her posts about family life, motherhood and her home. She writes beautifully, open and honestly about her life as a widowed mummy and how quite simply, she is just missing her husband. Julia was a 2015 MADS finalist, is a Wayfair featured blogger and is ranked 203 in the Tots charts. She is a journalist, mother of two young children and in my opinion, incredibly bloody brave.
So there you have it. All five of these bloggers are amazing at what they do and I urge you to go and scroll through all of their wonderful posts.
