Mummascribbles – It's conference time again! – Mummascribbles

I’m writing this as I sit on the tube on the way home from a day at work on a Sunday having been busily setting up the conference for the coming week in West London.

Believe it or not, though I may moan about being away from home, it is much easier when the conference is outside of London. I get accommodation, which means a normal time of morning wake up and a quick breakfast before usually walking the short distance to the venue. I also get dinner – a huge added bonus!

When in London, I have to commute, grab breakfast on the go and eat very late!

Tonight I finished at 8pm. I will get home at about 9.30pm where upon my other half will have gotten the little one bathed and asleep and have cooked dinner for us to eat as soon as I get in. I will eat, let it go down for 20 minutes, then go to bed and get some sleep, ready to be up to catch the 6.45am train.

Of course, the big benefit is that I get to see my lovely little family.

I get to sneak in on my beautiful boy sleeping and I get to see him in the morning briefly.

I’ll still miss him in the evenings though since we finish later in the evening on all nights.

So, the 6.45 train is all mine for the next 2 days, a little bit later on Wednesday and I think I’ve got just enough time to do the nursery run on Thursday!

I guess there’s benefits to both having a commutable conference and having one away. I just know this way round, come Thursday, I shall be absolutely bloody exhausted but will still have seen my little man every day!
