Mummascribbles – Maintaining baby soft skin with Baby Dove – Mummascribbles

This post was produced in association with Baby Dove

There is nothing quite like the softness of baby skin is there? Whether it’s their cheeks, their hands or those chunky thighs, I just love to squidge them and feel that ultimate youth beneath my fingers. When Zach was a baby, he had quite bad eczema and we have battled with it over the last four years. Each year it has improved and very weirdly, after he had chicken pox a couple of months ago, it completely disappeared. He had a bit before, then the pox came and as the spots cleared up, we were like, where the heck has his eczema gone?

Oscar, thankfully, has beautiful skin. I couldn’t bare the thought of going through the same with him and so far we have been very lucky not to have. That said, as with most babies, there is the odd little patch of dry skin and he has one leg that gets a bit sore behind the knee. Because of Zach’s skin, we know how important it is to use good quality products and so I was really excited when Dove launched their baby range earlier this year. I love using their products on my own skin so I knew I wanted to give them a try on my babies!

Building on Dove’s 60-year heritage of moisture, mildness and gentle care, Baby Dove goes beyond mildness to replenish essential moisture and nutrients in baby skin. Dermatologist tested, paediatrician approved and safe to use every day even on newborns, Baby Dove is available in two ranges; Rich Moisture range and Sensitive Moisture (fragrance-free) range.

We received a lovely package from the Sensitive Moisture Range which features Baby Dove Sensitive Moisture Head to Toe Wash, Baby Dove Sensitive Moisture Lotion and Baby Dove Sensitive Moisture Fragrance Free Wipes. Each of these products are fragrance-free to take extra special care of babies with sensitive skin and are also hypoallergenic so clinically proven to minimise allergy risks and is pH neutral with tear-free cleansers.

Baby Dove Sensitive Moisture Head to Toe Wash

The Baby Dove Sensitive Moisture Head to Toe Wash comes in a pump action bottle, which for me is a winning format. When you are trying to bathe children, you need as many hands free as possible and with this, it can be left on the side of the bath and you only need one hand to use the pump leaving your other hand free to support whatever your little one is doing (if they are anything like Oscar it’ll be splashing like mad!). The wash is in the form of a cream and it feels really silky as it’s rubbed onto the skin.

Being a head to toe wash means it’s also suitable for hair washing and I have to say that I have really noticed how glossy Oscar’s hair is after it’s been used on it. Even though it’s fragrance free, it still has a really lovely scent about it and he comes out smelling delicious!

Baby Dove Sensitive Moisture Lotion

The Baby Dove Sensitive Moisture Lotion is in a squeezy bottle and the shape of it makes it really easy to hold. The texture of the cream is half way in between runny and thick and when applied, it spreads really easily and feels really silky as it goes onto the skin. It soaks into the skin really quickly (I literally just rubbed some into my hands to remind myself of how it felt and I am already typing again!), and again, even though it is fragrance free, it has a really natural scent to it that is rather pleasing to the nose. Oscar’s skin feels amazing after I have smothered him in it after his bath and my hands feel super soft too!

Baby Dove Sensitive Moisture Fragrance Free Wipes

I had no idea that Baby Dove had produced wipes as part of their range until I received them in this package and so it was a real nice surprise. We always use sensitive baby wipes on both of the boys because they just get used so often don’t they? I mean the amount of nappy changes that they are used for alone mean we need to be kind to bottoms but then there are the constant wiping of faces and hands as well. I have been using these wipes on both of the boys and they have been fab at cleaning up all of the mess that they make. And right now with one that doesn’t stop eating food and one that is learning how to eat food, it’s a lot of mess.

The wipes are super soft and just the right level of being not too watery but wet enough to clean well!

Overall, I am super impressed with all of the products that we have used in the Baby Dove range and will happily be adding more to our bathroom once these ones have run out. I am loving the baby soft skin! I am also loving the whole #TrustYourWay campaign that they have been focussing on since releasing this new range. We all know that being a parent can be extremely trying and with all of the differering advice being thrown at us, it can all be a bit overwhelming. With the experience of being a second time mum, I am a firm believer in trusting our instincts and believing in ourselves as parents and they too are totally supporting that as well. Baby Dove believes that the media and advertisers have a responsibility to reflect the realities of parenting, because there’s no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ way to be a parent. Their mission is to help ease the pressures and anxieties that new mums may feel, because the most important thing is having a happy mum and a happy baby.
