Mummascribbles meets…Hannah Spannah Coco Banana – Mummascribbles

Today we meet the lovely Hannah from Hannah Spannah Coco Banana. Thanks so much for taking part Hannah!

Tell me a little bit about yourself and your family
I’m Hannah and I’m a happy and proud single mummy of one gorgeous little boy. We live with a puppy, a cat and 3 fish. My mum and sister help out a lot as I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and Fibromyalgia. We live in North Yorkshire.

What do you like doing to be you, when you are not parenting, working (if you do), or blogging?
I don’t really do much to be truthful! When my little man is with his Dad, I tend to blog (just as I am now) and then that’s all my time gone! I became ill during pregnancy and have never really carved out a life for myself without my son! I do have some great friends that I sometimes eat out with.

What is your biggest achievement to date?
Being a Mummy has to be my biggest achievement. Other than that, I came up with the idea for a picture book for newborns. My boss at the time had all the contacts and made it happen, with proceeds going to the NSPCC. I believe it had made over £30,000 for them a couple of years ago so I hope the figure is even bigger now.

From your own experiences, what do you find the hardest part of parenting and what is the easiest/most rewarding part?
The hardest part of parenting has to be the guilt. I had no idea just how bad it can be. The most rewarding part is the love. My little man is so cuddly. He loves hugs and calls me his best friend. It melts my heart.

Parenting in itself is no mean feat; how do you juggle everything you need to in order to get everything done on a daily basis?
I am so lucky that I have a lot of help with the house. I tend to keep on top of most thing to do with my little man but my family help with the house and washing. I do keep all of my little man’s toys organised though and they all have a place.

Why did you decide to start blogging?
I started blogging as a way to deal with my health. At times it was too much and I didn’t know what to do. I wrote to deal with things and get them off my chest although I didn’t tell anyone about my blog until February this year.

Tell me a bit about your blog?
My blog documents my life with my little man. We keep busy and I love my little man being an outdoorsy boy. I write about where we go, the things we do and what we think. I write about topical news if it interests me and also the challenges I face as single mum and my health. I co-host a great linky on a Friday with an American blogger, called #featurefridays. It’s a great platform as blogs are seen in the UK and US. I am also launching my own linky soon for homemovies called watch me, watch me, Wednesday.

What do you want your blog to achieve and where do you hope to see it go as it grows?
I don’t have any thoughts of where I want the blog to go. I blog because I enjoy it, it keeps me busy when I am without my little man and it gives me a purpose other than being a Mummy. It’s helped my confidence and I just hope that people like what I write.

What advice would you give someone who is thinking about starting a blog?
Just go for it. Write for yourself. Write what you want to write and if you are unsure, you can keep it to yourself until you feel more confident. You may just surprise yourself. If you do want to get into the technical side of blogging and promoting, the one thing I will say is don’t stress about it. It is a whole new world with its own language at times and it can seem quite daunting but don’t worry. A very successful blogger has recently admitted that she doesn’t have a clue about some of the things I let stress me out!

If you could have dinner with three people (dead or alive), who would it be and why?
I really don’t have a clue!

Tell me three random facts about you

1. I once did a night scuba dive in Australia. I flipped backwards off the boat and started to descend in the dark. I pretty much sat on a sleeping shark!!! Nothing dangerous I might add, and only about 5ft but I didn’t see what type of shark it was as I swam off pretty quick! It was terrifying and I spent the rest of the dive sticking very close to my diving buddy!

2. I love animals and now I’m an adult with my own home and no one to really answer to, I am slightly nervous that I am going to turn my home into a petting zoo! If I could have a bit of land, I’d keep some white ducks, a donkey and pigmy goat!

3. I’m really weird with cheese. I can eat it on a pizza or lasagne or parmesan in a salad but that’s that. I hate cheese in all other situations!
