Mummascribbles meets…LadyBug Home & Designs – Mummascribbles
This week we meet the lovely Christina from LadyBug Home & Designs. Thanks so much for taking part Christina.
Tell me a little bit about yourself and your family
My name is Christina Smith Gibson and I was born in Oregon, USA. Almost 12 years old, I married my English husband and moved to England for love. The little loves in my life are my daughter (3 years old) and baby boy (born December 2014). My parents, twin sister and brother lives in Oregon. I get sent exciting boxes from my parents filled with my favourite foods and daring clothing for my children. I have loving in-laws that live in Cambridgeshire.
What do you like doing to be you, when you are not parenting, working (if you do), or blogging?
I am currently on maternity leave from my small business called LadyBug Home & Designs (retailing ribbon, buttons and hair accessories). My current relaxing activity is cross stitching and making decorations for holidays (Spring/Easter etc). I have completed 2 cross stitch projects in the last month and am starting a new Spring/Easter pattern. I hope to start designing cross stitch patterns in the next couple months for retailing.
What is your biggest achievement to date?
I would have to say my daughter and son. Every baby is a miracle but they were both “my miracles”. There were some tears and heartbreak before they arrived in our lives but I am the most proud to be their mother.
From your own experiences, what do you find the hardest part of parenting and what is the easiest/most rewarding part?
The hardest part of parenting for me is finding a balance between being a good mother and trying to continue to grow mentally as person. I am very grateful that I get to stay home these days and spend time with them but I do miss meeting new people and have professional goals.
The most rewarding part of being a mother is watching them learn new skills and explore the world. My children bring pure joy to my life everyday and I love to have new adventures with them.
Parenting in itself is no mean feat; how do you juggle everything you need to in order to get everything done on a daily basis?
I don’t ever feel that my house is clean enough or that I get everything done but I am doing my best. My house may be messy but it is filled with fun and love.
Why did you decide to start blogging?
I started blogging in the Spring of 2014 so I could record some of the craft projects I was doing and daily life for myself, but also to share experiences with my mother. I enjoy reading other people’s blogs and thought it was a good way to express myself.
Tell me a bit about your blog?
My blog is currently evolving but I hope it will mainly focus on motherhood, crafting, running a small business and home design. I did take a break from it until recently but am working very hard currently to write different topic articles.
I just recently learned about link parties and recently ran a “Mothering Sunday Link Party”.
What do you want your blog to achieve and where do you hope to see it go as it grows?
I would like my blog to develop with time and hopefully be fairly financially successful. I hope it will allow me to meet new people and have new experiences for my children. I enjoy having a “project” and professional responsibilities but I want to have the flexibility as a stay-at-home mom.
What advice would you give someone who is thinking about starting a blog?
I’m definitely not an expert but I think you should just have fun with it. I am currently putting a lot of pressure on myself to develop my blog as quick as possible but I think you need to take your time so you don’t lose interest. I think writing about topics that you enjoy will provide good content.
If you could have dinner with three people (dead or alive), who would it be and why?
1 & 2. I would love to have dinner with my two grandfathers that have passed away so I could introduce them to my husband and children.
3. I would like to have dinner with Reese Witherspoon because she seems really nice and it would be fun to learn about what is like to be an actresses in Hollywood.
Tell me three random facts about you
1. I love green candy, especially lime.
2. My husband says I own more buttons and ribbon yardage than most craft stores.
3. I have a sewing machine but never used it yet.
