Mummascribbles meets…Mummy Fever – Mummascribbles

Every week I feature an interview with a blogger, so that whether you know of them or not, you can get to know them a little better! This week we meet the lovely Charlotte from Mummy Fever. Thanks so much for taking part Charlotte 🙂

Tell me a little bit about yourself and your family
I’m Charlotte, I live in North Wales with my partner and four children. One girl and three boys. We are both originally from Leicestershire.

What do you like doing to be you, when you are not parenting, working (if you do), or blogging?
I love to exercise but these days I have to be creative as I am rarely on my own. I have lots of gym equipment at home so I try to use that and I try to run a marathon a year. I love movies and we enjoy family movie nights and I enjoy cooking. I also love a good bubble bath but I don’t actually remember the last time I got to lie in one haha.

What is your biggest achievement to date?
I find this quite hard to answer actually. My 4 children are a massive achievement, my Master’s degree also but to be honest, at this stage in my life I feel like keeping my sh*t together during some really hard years is my biggest achievement.

From your own experiences, what do you find the hardest part of parenting and what is the easiest/most rewarding part?
The hardest part is without a doubt the juggle. I don’t think there are any easy parts to parenting but there are plenty of rewarding parts. I love the pride you feel when they achieve a milestone or do well but then also the really simple things, like recently when I had been out walking with my two youngest and when we got home they both fell asleep on me – I wanted to cuddle them like that forever. Simple moments like that melt me.

Parenting in itself is no mean feat; how do you juggle everything you need to in order to get everything done on a daily basis?
The simple answer is I don’t. There are always things that don’t get done, always, and that frustrates me beyond belief. I have to constantly remind myself that I have four children, a business and a home to run and there are not 50 hours in the day. I am organised and I have systems for everything. I set reminders, I have lists and I try to encourage the children to help with some things too.

Why did you decide to start blogging?
Initially it was to have a writing outlet but it’s become my business and a way of trying to help others

Tell me a bit about your blog?
I would say that I mainly try to focus on parenting, lifestyle and family travel BUT I try to think of it as an online magazine. In a magazine you get articles about all sorts of things. I see the ‘lifestyle’ element as a bit of a catch all I guess.

What do you want your blog to achieve and where do you hope to see it go as it grows?
I want to get to the point where I can say I earn a comfortable living from it. Realistically that can’t happen until all the children are in full time school and I do have more time to work on it. At the moment there is just a long list of things that need to be done that I can never seem to get to.

What advice would you give someone who is thinking about starting a blog?
I’d say use WordPress and be self-hosted and write for your ideal reader.

If you could have dinner with three people (dead or alive), who would it be and why?
I love questions like these…

First would be my maternal grandmother. She died when I was 18 but she had a huge impact on me as a child. I’d love her take on my life now and to pick her brains once again.

My mother would be the second person. She died this summer and quite frankly her life wasn’t long enough to have all the conversations we should have had.

Michelle Obama would be the third person. I just think she’s an incredible woman. She’s inspiring to listen to and I’d love an injection of that.

Tell me three random facts about you

I have run 19 marathons in the last 16 years (only 3 of those were before children)

I love to ski – it’s my favourite thing to do and I love being in the mountains

I’ve been terrified of snakes for as long as I can remember but this year at the Geronimo Festival I held an enormous python around my neck and I think I’m actually cured!
