Mummascribbles – Mummascribbles meets…Amy Treasure – Mummascribbles
This week we meet the utterly fabulous Amy Treasure. Thanks so much for taking part Amy 🙂

Tell me a little bit about yourself and your family
I’ve been married to Justin for 11 years, we married when I was 25 but actually first got together when I was 15. We broke up when he decided to travel the world (I was devastated!) so we went our separate ways, I met someone else and ended up having Lewis and Holly and then came out of that really bad relationship. I bumped into Justin again on a night out, the rest, so they say is history! We have a daughter together, Rose age 3, and he is the best dad to Lewis and Holly who are now 16 and 17.Â
What do you like doing to be you, when you are not parenting, working (if you do), or blogging?
I will happily spend hours sitting and playing my piano. I’m getting really into the gym again too and love going to spin and barre classes. I will never say no to a bit of retail therapy either!Â
What is your biggest achievement to date?Â
Ooh tough one, surviving motherhood immediately springs to mind as I was on my own with my older two for a few years and I managed to put myself through uni as well as cope with being a teenage mum.
I think my biggest achievement really belongs to Justin and I equally: We saved and saved and got ourselves into a position where we were able to buy our dream forever home. I love our house so much and although it’s been a building site for the last 18 months I’m so proud of it. I just want it to be finished now so we can relax and enjoy it.Â
From your own experiences, what do you find the hardest part of parenting and what is the easiest/most rewarding part?Â
I find ALL aspects of parenting hard! I have the benefit of having older children so I know that all those things that seem impossible all of a sudden just get easier as children get older, but even saying that, once the kids are older there’s a whole new set of worries, I’m sorry to say it’s neverending and doesn’t really get easier!
The absolute hardest thing for me is the worry that I’m not doing it right, but I think we all feel that way, don’t we? It definitely gets easier when the children can dress themselves and get ready on their own in the mornings, though! For me, there’s nothing more rewarding than watching my children learn and develop a skill that makes them happy. I am at my most content when everyone is happy.Â
Parenting in itself is no mean feat; how do you juggle everything you need to in order to get everything done on a daily basis?Â
I just try and stay organised; mornings are a bit like a military operation in our house and if anyone sleeps 10 mins past the alarm all hell breaks loose. Food shopping online has been a godsend too. I just find that if you stay on top of everything like housework, shopping and homework etc it’s more manageable so my best piece of advice: have a schedule and stick to it.Â
Why did you decide to start blogging?Â
I originally started as a beauty blog about 6 years ago when I was working as a makeup artist and started a blog as an online portfolio. I gradually switched focus to family/food and haven’t looked back since.Â
Tell me a bit about your blog?Â
Amy Treasure.Com is a magazine style family blog with a focus on food and photography.Â
What do you want your blog to achieve and where do you hope to see it go as it grows?Â
I’d love to do more travel stuff. We had the best time on our skiing holiday with Mark Warner recently so more of that would be great. I feel like I’ve achieved quite a bit work-wise so to be able to keep it ticking over nicely is my main goal without letting it consume me like it has in the past. I am definitely more of a ‘slow blogger’ these days.Â
What advice would you give someone who is thinking about starting a blog?Â
Just do it, it is highly likely that blogging will enrich your life!
If you could have dinner with three people (dead or alive), who would it be and why?Â
I’d have Michael Jackson, Freddie Mercury and my dad.Â
Tell me three random facts about you
1. I can’t bear the sound of tapping fingernails
2. My favourite book is the dictionary
3. I once served Prince Charles afternoon tea.
