Mummascribbles – Mummascribbles meets…Honestly Wonderful – Mummascribbles

Every week I feature an interview with a blogger, so that whether you know of them or not, you can get to know them a little better! This week we meet the lovely Aarti from Honestly Wonderful. Thanks so much for taking part Aarti.

Tell me a little bit about yourself and your family.
Hello! I’m an Interior Designer, Stylist and Lifestyle Blogger creating innovative interiors and styling spaces in creative, eclectic ways. I live in north London with Mr P and Baby P and am enjoying our little haven of being ‘us’! Mr P is the logic to my illogic and Baby P is my piece of heaven! Aside from all things creative my main passion lies in travel and culture. I enjoy visiting new places and immersing myself in the local traditions. I have travelled extensively and find that it influences my work and aesthetic. I have a keen interest in photography, branding and styling. Honestly Wonderful is a blog about Interior Design, Trends, Lifestyle, Design Inspiration and Travel.

What do you like doing to be you, when you are not parenting, working (if you do), or blogging?
I like being outdoors, visiting exhibitions, and creative shows and love to dance like a crazy mama as I think it’s just so therapeutic!

What is your biggest achievement to date?
I think Baby P is my biggest achievement for ever! But I’ve also parachuted in Cuba, walked part of the Great Wall in China and abseiled a few buildings which are all fantastic achievements (but not in comparison)

From your own experiences, what do you find the hardest part of parenting and what is the easiest/most rewarding part?
The hardest part of parenting is expecting your little one to do one thing and find that they decide to do the complete opposite, just teaches you – never assume!! Some sleep would also be great, you don’t realise how much you can achieve with only 2 hours of sleep. Autopilot generally kicks in with copious amounts of caffeine and sugar!

The most rewarding is definitely the cuddles, snuggles and unconditional love that you get every day!

Parenting in itself is no mean feat; how do you juggle everything you need to in order to get everything done on a daily basis?
Caffeine!! And music to keep me going. I also write lots and lots of lists to make sure I have a step by step guide of what I need to do that day as I do seem to forget a lot!

Why did you decide to start blogging?
I started blogging as a creative outlet to my work as an interior designer, I was working at a job that felt less creative than I had liked and blogging helped me to keep the creative alive

Tell me a bit about your blog?
I have recently started the process of rebranding my blog to be ‘Honestly Wonderful’ and I blog about interior design, trends within, design inspiration, culture, lifestyle and travel.

What do you want your blog to achieve and where do you hope to see it go as it grows?
I would love it to be a go to source of inspiration and advice, it would be great to be on peoples top blog lists and gain followers organically because people want to read my posts. It would be great to start collaborating with other bloggers, creatives and brands and really work with people who have the same views as me.

What advice would you give someone who is thinking about starting a blog?
Really think about what you want from your blog and how you want it to grow and develop. I would also advise doing some research on what it takes to keep it going such as writing plans, scheduling ideas for posts and so forth because I remember going through a lull for a while and it was so hard to get myself writing again. Now I hope I am armed with more knowledge that it doesn’t get so difficult because I actually love blogging as much as I love interior design!

If you could have dinner with three people (dead or alive), who would it be and why?

1. Michael Jackson = legend

2. Beyonce for inspiration and her work on womens rights

3. Amy Winehouse as she seemed like a lot of fun (without any substance abuse!!)

Tell me three random facts about you

1. I love to dance

2. I collect vintage ephemera

3. I love love love cheese and crackers and pickle!
