Mummascribbles – Mummascribbles meets…Me Becoming Mum – Mummascribbles

This week we meet the lovely Naomi from Me Becoming Mum. Thanks so much for taking part Naomi 🙂

Tell me a little bit about yourself and your family
I live at home in Peterborough; with my husband – who I celebrated five years of marriage to in May 2016 – and our daughter who turned two in February 2016. We are expecting our second little girl in December 2016.

I am the eldest child of my parents and have two younger brothers, one who runs a successful photography business called, Joshua Earle Photography.

What do you like doing to be you, when you are not parenting, working (if you do), or blogging?
I don’t really have a life outside of blogging and parenting at the moment as it takes all of my energy to be pregnant, a mother and run my blog!

I do however love to catch up on television programmes such as Arrow, Flash, NCIS and a few other favourites of mine. If I get a chance I also quite enjoy reading!

What is your biggest achievement to date?
My biggest achievement to date has to be setting up my own handmade business, Mama Naii’s Crochet. I make handmade crochet items, mostly for babies and children. It has grown so much, and I have been doing so well with it.

I am currently on maternity leave until after our little one is born, but that doesn’t stop me from being proud of what I have so far achieved.

From your own experiences, what do you find the hardest part of parenting and what is the easiest/most rewarding part?
The hardest part of parenting for me is when I can’t make things better. If our daughter is ill for example, she can get herself in such a state and be so beside herself. I just want to be able to take it away and make her better again, but have to let things run their course.

The most rewarding part of parenting for me is the way that I see our daughter getting excited about things. Especially at the moment; as she is currently loving bonding with her little sister baby bump.

Parenting in itself is no mean feat; how do you juggle everything you need to in order to get everything done on a daily basis?
If I ever figure that out, I will let you know. Some days I can’t even understand how I manage it myself!

I suppose the main way, is that I try to work around the times that our daughter is sleeping, so I tend to crochet and blog at night after she has gone to bed.

Why did you decide to start blogging?
A friend of mine and a fellow blogger, Filipa from Gourmet Mum and I were having a chat which ended in her telling me how good I would be at blogging.

I am so glad that she encouraged me to start because I absolutely love it, and can’t imagine my life without it.

Tell me a bit about your blog
Me Becoming Mum is all about my personal experience of pregnancy and motherhood. My aim is to write the truth and keep it as real as possible – even if sometimes that is not as glamorous as we’d like it to be.

What do you want your blog to achieve and where do you hope to see it go as it grows?
The main thing I want to achieve is to help people. When I write honest posts about things such as the miscarriages I had; I want those posts to reach those that need to hear the story the most.

I would love to one day have my blog as my main occupation, and see my following in the thousands rather than its current hundreds.

What advice would you give someone who is thinking about starting a blog?
Be patient: As with most anything in life, nothing happens over night. You don’t wake up one morning with 10k followers on Twitter. Spend time building your audience, and allow for things to progress!

Don’t worry: I see a lot of people panicking about stats, followers and other seemingly “important” things to do with blogging, but the ultimate goal of your blog should be to enjoy it, and to have great content. Everything else will follow.

Don’t allow yourself to get disheartened: It is easy to look at the blogger next to you and see the amazing items PRs are sending for review; or how many likes or comments or retweets or followers they have on social media, and get a little upset that you don’t have the same. Never forget that they started off at 0 too!

If you could have dinner with three people (dead or alive), who would it be and why?
I would love to have dinner with my husband and his paternal grandparents. Both of them have unfortunately passed away. I didn’t get to know his granddad very well before he died, having only been dating John for a few months when it happened. He and his wife were amazing people, who had a massive influence in my husband’s life and I would love to be able to share a meal with them. To be able to chat with them, and see my husband interact with them.

Tell me three random facts about you

1. I have ten piercings and six tattoos.

2. My husband is ten years and eighteen days older than me… something no one usually suspects as I am mature for my age (and he is not! Haha!)

3. I got my first managerial role at the ripe old age of seventeen; as a supervisor for Primark.
