Mummascribbles – Mummascribbles meets…Run Jump Scrap – Mummascribbles
This morning we meet the lovely Sarah from Run Jump Scrap. Thank you Sarah for taking part and being the first featured interviewee in the mummascribbles meets series
Tell me a little bit about yourself and your family.
My name is Sarah, I am wife to Chris and Mum to my little girly who is 18 months. I work as a dietitian 3 days a week and Chris works in IT . Chris and I have been married for 2 years and together for almost 8. We met on Facebook! I have a great relationship with my Mum and step-dad and we see them quite a lot and they help out which is great!
What do you like doing to be you, when you are not parenting, working (if you do), or blogging?
My blog is actually about my favourite things. I love to exercise and I go to gym classes 3-4 times a week. I’ll try anything as long as I get a sweat on. I just love the way it makes me feel; I forget everything and it’s a great stress reliever. Also I love to do scrapbook pages for my little girl. I started over a year ago and I am addicted. I also enjoy time with family and friends, going out to eat and shopping!
What is your biggest achievement to date?
Life-wise this has to be having my daughter. I know loads of women do it but how did Chris and I create something so amazing and hilarious? I ask myself this all the time. Generally I was so pleased when I got my current job. It was a promotion and it’s just the best. I love my work colleague and it’s interesting and stress-free. Fits in well with my family as well.
From your own experiences, what do you find the hardest part of parenting and what is the easiest/most rewarding part?
The hardest part is the amount of times she is ill. I was never prepared for it. I went back to work and she went to nursery and that was it…open the floodgates. Constant coughs, colds, an ear infection and sickness. Then we get it too and it’s even worse. I would also say the eating side is really tough. As a dietitian her fussiness and food refusal drives me insane! She was a fab weaner but it’s all gone to pot. The easiest and most rewarding parts is just being with her. She’s so fun to play with, read to and just as company. I could just be going food shopping but having her too is the best. She’s funny and her speech is really good so we can have a little chat.
Parenting in itself is no mean feat; how do you juggle everything you need to in order to get everything done on a daily basis?
My husband is really supportive and works from home so he can do the nursery drops when I’m working. I have to leave pretty early. This takes the stress from me and I can enjoy my day. I have to confess we got a cleaner! She comes every 2 weeks and this is really helpful for the deep clean. I can fit in food shopping and keeping everywhere generally tidy on my days off and take my girly to a singing and dancing class. My Mum and step-dad are always dying to look after her so Chris and I do get date nights and time together.
Why did you decide to start blogging?
I wanted to start blogging about my scrapbooking but soon realised it wasn’t as popular as Mummy blogging. I realised I loved to write and this was another creative outlet. I just thought lets do it. It’s only been just over 6 weeks and I really enjoy it.
Tell me a bit about your blog?
I have only just got started. My blog is about life as a Mummy and my general thoughts as well as my love for fitness and scrapbooking. I tend to write more observational posts rather than a diary style. I am hoping to start a linky in the future and am currently getting it redesigned.
What do you want your blog to achieve and where do you hope to see it go as it grows?
I would like to do a linky with a fellow blogger as I love reading everyone else’s posts and getting them all together in one place. I just hope it gets into the wider blogging community in time.
What advice would you give someone who is thinking about starting a blog?
Just go for it. Don’t be shy about what you want to write. Read others for inspiration and guideance. Use social media lots and definitely join in with regular linkys to make friends and regular readers.
If you could have dinner with three people (dead or alive), who would it be and why?
1. My Dad. He passed away when I was pregnant with my daughter and I just feel like there is so much I need to tell him. He was ill for a long time and he missed so much.
2. Freddy Mercury – I love him and his music. I was so sad he died before I could see him in concert. He was just amazing, flamboyant and so fabulous! If he had been diagnosed with HIV now he would still be alive; such a shame.
3. Tom Hanks – I just think he seems like such a nice guy, so down to earth. So many of his films mean so much to me from being a child. He is an amazing actor and would love to meet him.
Tell me three random facts about you
1. I learnt to do pole dancing at University at one of the Uni societies (not for money!). So yes I can hang upside down and climb a pole. I was such amazing fun and exercise but I got bruised to death.
2. I’m a dietitian but my husband does all the cooking!! He admits he has a bit of a control freak side to this but I’m not complaining. He food is healthy and really tasty!
3. I once auditioned for the Royal Ballet when I was a little girl. I didn’t make it but it was a fab experience.
