Mummascribbles – Mummascribbles meets…Something Crunchy Mummy – Mummascribbles

This week we meet the lovely Kirsty from Something Crunchy Mummy. Thanks so much for taking part Kirsty

Tell me a little bit about yourself and your family.
I’m Kirsty and I live in Wiltshire with my husband and our two sons, Finley (4) and Noah (2). My husband and I have been together for 12 years this year and we have been married for 4 years in May. It took him a long time to get down on one knee but it was worth the wait. I fell pregnant with Finley a month after our engagement, we had been trying for a baby for a few months and it all happened at once. We got married when Finley was 8 months old and then when Finley turned 1 we decided to try for baby number 2. Noah came along 9 months later, with a 22 month age gap between the boys. We have no pets and are currently in the process of moving house, it is a very slow process but one that I know will be worth the wait.

What do you like doing to be you, when you are not parenting, working (if you do), or blogging?
I love to run. Running is a huge part of my life and it keeps me sane. It gives me time to let off steam and to think things through without losing my top at home. A good half hour run 4 times a week does me the world of good. It also helps maintain my weight loss, so that I can eat the things I love like chocolate.

What is your biggest achievement to date?
It may sound corny but it has to be my two boys. I look at them every day and I watch how they are and I think to myself, I helped and still am helping mould them into who they are today. I have always wanted to be a mum, it really is the hardest job in the world but is so rewarding.

From your own experiences, what do you find the hardest part of parenting and what is the easiest/most rewarding part?
The hardest part has to be being wanted and needed 24/7. There are no holidays or days off from being a mum. Even when they are with someone else, like grandparents, you are constantly wondering if they are ok or when out shopping you look at stuff for them. We were all ill the other week and there really was no stopping for me, my job is to parent and I can’t just stop when I want to.

The most rewarding part has to be the love that they show me. Both of them tell me every day that they love me and my youngest tells me I look beautiful. All the kisses and hugs make up for it being the hardest job in the world.

Parenting in itself is no mean feat; how do you juggle everything you need to in order to get everything done on a daily basis?
It has to be planning and routine. Because without that I think our daily life would be a shambles. I have to have everything written down in about 4 different places so I remember what we are all doing, and still then I forget something. And routine within the day is what keeps us sane.

I am also very thankful to my husband who once he comes through the door of a evening after work, takes over so I can run around doing all the things I haven’t managed to do on my own.

Why did you decide to start blogging?
I had been wanting to write for a long time, I had all these ideas of what I wanted to vent about and showcase to others but just never got round to doing it. Until one day I just took the leap. I wanted a place to say to others, look you’re not alone, I am struggling too. Also a place I could show off the greatness of parenting and the pure joys it brings.

Tell me a bit about your blog?
My blog is a mixture of ramblings about things that bug me and events that happen in our lives. It is all based around my boys and without them there would be no blog. My blog is basically about my family and our lives together. And a little bit of running thrown in. I try my best not to hold back with my thoughts and feelings as I honestly think being honest helps yourself as well as others.

What do you want your blog to achieve and where do you hope to see it go as it grows?
I’m not entirely sure if I am honest. I want it to grow but not in the monetary way just in the reach that it gets. I want to go to some more blogging conferences to get more experience in this field as I am still a total novice and without any knowledge I don’t know where it can and could go. I don’t want to put too much pressure on myself as I don’t want it to become a chore as it is a hobby that I love.

What advice would you give someone who is thinking about starting a blog?
Just do it. Stop thinking about it and set that little corner up on the internet and make it your own. The blogging community is the best and there is so much support and love out there that you feel part of something. And write what you want to write, be yourself. Don’t try and write like others or what you think others would like to read. I believe to be successful at blogging you need to be yourself.

If you could have dinner with three people (dead or alive), who would it be and why?

1. Micheal Buble, because on one fact only; I love him!!

2. Mary Poppins, she could give me some advice!

3. Trevor Mcdonald, I am just in awe of him and everything he has done.

Tell me three random facts about you

1. I once did a sky dive.

2. I am allergic to cocodamol.

3. I have a largeish birthmark on my right ankle, my boys are fascinated by it.
