Mummascribbles – Mummascribbles meets…Twin Mummy and Daddy – Mummascribbles

Today we meet the lovely Emily from Twin Mummy and Daddy. Thanks so much for taking part Emily

Tell me a little bit about yourself and your family
I’m 29 years old, married to Nigel, and together we have four year old twin girls who were conceived via ICSI (IVF). Nigel and I have been together around 10/11 years and he also has three children from his ex wife.

We live in Cardiff and although the we’ve had our moments over the years, I couldn’t wish for a better family! All of the children get on really well, and the adults too, although at times I think the kids behave better!!

R and M, our twins love having two older sisters and a brother. They all adore one another so much and I love watching them all spending time together.

What do you like doing to be you, when you are not parenting, working (if you do), or blogging?
I enjoy reading, I always have, but lately, well since having children, I haven’t read as much as I’d like too. I’m trying to read more!

I also enjoy being creative, making things etc, so I’ve been doing a lot more of this lately. For example I recently made a summer garden party tablecloth, a triangle pouch to keep my sewing bits and bobs in and also a dress for one of my daughters and a pair of shorts for my other daughter. They turned out really well so I’m keen to make more! They also want me to make them a toy each (a dog and cat) so this is my next project!

What is your biggest achievement to date?
I’m not sure to be honest! I think just being able to be a in a position that means my family and I live comfortably and happily is a pretty big achievement so I’ll go with that!

From your own experiences, what do you find the hardest part of parenting and what is the easiest/most rewarding part?
I think the hardest part was during the early days when I had no clue what I was doing in terms of teething, weaning, getting two babies to nap at the same time etc!

Now that our twins are four years old it’s a breeze! The easiest and most rewarding part is k owing that they’re happy and that they get to experience new, amazing things on a regular basis!

Parenting in itself is no mean feat; how do you juggle everything you need to in order to get everything done on a daily basis?
I have a husband! Haha! He’s pretty amazing and tends to do a lot to help out! More than me I think at times! I’d be lost without him!

Why did you decide to start blogging?
I was on maternity leave, the girls were in special care after being born prematurely and I just wanted somewhere to document how I was feeling and how the girls were doing. I’d kept an online diary of our fertility treatment so the blog was a natural progression of that.

Tell me a bit about your blog?
I’ve been blogging almost four years now and I really enjoy it. It’s something I’m pretty passionate about and I don’t see myself stopping anytime soon.

I write about anything I want to really. General parenting posts to crafty and food posts etc.

What do you want your blog to achieve and where do you hope to see it go as it grows?
I’m not sure what I want it to achieve to be honest! I write because I enjoy it and it does have perks such as reviews and being able to earn a little money from it. I don’t ever see it being able to replace to my job in terms of making a full time living off of it, but I think as long as I enjoy writing and people enjoy reading it then I’ll continue to do so.

What advice would you give someone who is thinking about starting a blog?
Don’t worry about statistics and what other people are doing. Just write about what you want and enjoy it! The blogging community is friendly so if you need help or any advice etc then don’t be afraid to ask!

If you could have dinner with three people (dead or alive), who would it be and why?

1. Elvis – I’d love to hear about his life and just be able to be in his company! I’m a bit of a fan!

2. Johnny Depp – He’s gorgeous!

3. My mum – Just one more time so I could ask her advice about parenting and other things. She passed away almost 11 years ago now and I have so much I want to ask her.

Tell me three random facts about you

1. I’m a twin

2. I love gardening and growing my own vegetables

3. I’d love to have my own farm!
