My son has a girlfriend.

He is three years old and he has a girlfriend.

It is quite possibly the cutest thing because he acts like an embarrassed teenager when I question him about her!

His girlfriend attends his nursery and is actually one of the nursery nurse’s daughter. F (as I’ll name her), is adorable. A couple of weeks before Christmas I bumped into F’s mum in the corridor and she told me that Zach and F keep cuddling and kissing. That they keep getting caught doing so!

On Christmas Eve, I picked him up from nursery and F was there. On the way out they said goodbye to each other, hugged and gave each other a peck. I mean c’mon, how cute is that?! I asked him afterwards if F was his girlfriend and he said yes! I asked him if he was going to marry her and he said yes!

It all came quite out of the blue as well. If I had to pick one of his classmates that he would make his first girlfriend, it would have been E. With her beautiful curly blonde hair, sparkling blue eyes and winning smile, she was very much his ‘type’. And yes, I really mean type. My son is the biggest flirt ever and always picks out the blonde! She is normally a couple of years older than him, the cheeky boy! There have been a number of times that I have found myself cringing at how flirtatious my son is! Especially when it’s at the swimming pool! His Dad likes to think that he takes after him but I’m not sure that’s the case at all!

F is a brunette so he has changed his type (for now). She’s a feisty little thing and I can imagine that this time, she did the chasing!

This morning on the way to nursery, to try and take his mind off the fact it was his first day back and therefore tying to prevent tears, I asked him who he thought he would be seeing and I just had to mention F. Yep, it seems that in his eyes their relationship has survived the Christmas break and she is still his girlfriend. I wonder if that’ll be the case when I pick him up.

If she’s moved onto someone else then I guess I’ll be the main lady in his life again!
