Mummascribbles – Review: Baker Days personlised cakes – Mummascribbles
I received a message on Twitter last week from a lovely company called Baker Days asking if I would like to review cake. It’s probably one of my most favourite tweets to date! Of course I said yes immediately! Then on Tuesday, when I was home with a poorly toddler, said cake arrived through the letterbox! It couldn’t have come on a more perfect day for testing!
About Baker Days

Baker Days are located on the edge of Sherwood Forest (how fab!), and they design, bake and send the cake direct to your door. Their new letterbox cake is what I was asked to review and it’s called that because it really does fit through the letterbox! They also do larger cakes (not for the letterbox) and can deliver the next day if you order before 2pm or also take pre-orders. They have a choice of cake type which are plain sponge, chocolate chip and fruit and even have gluten and dairy free using only the best ingredients. Their cakes are priced from £14.99 upwards.
What we thought of the cake
It was like opening the cutest of gifts. The packaging is just wonderful and it made me go ‘ooooooo’. The cake comes in its own little tin and alongside it was a card for whoever you are giving it to along with a mini pack of Love Hearts.

When I opened the tin, I didn’t know what to expect. I mean, this cake had just been dropped through the letterbox – was it really going to be in one piece?
The answer was yes!
In order to be able to get the cake out of the tin, there was a little strip of paper that you pulled up, unstuck underneath and bam, out it came easily. It was also wrapped in a clear bag to keep its freshness.

And how utterly beautiful it was. They have a huge range of designs on their website and you can even design your own. I was asked to choose a Mother’s Day themed one and thought this was absolutely stunning and had to have it!

So, how did the cake fair? I mean it was baked and sent in the post – would it really be deliciously fresh?
Again, the answer was yes. I popped the knife through it and it was so smooth, fresh and fluffy!

I cut a slice for me and a small slice for Zach, made a cup of tea and went to sit down and hopefully enjoy it!

Enjoy it I did. It is such a light, fluffy cake, perfectly baked and not too sweet. The icing is also not overly sweet and I managed to eat it all (I tend to leave half the icing nowadays!). Zach didn’t want his bit (he was poorly and couldn’t even be bothered to eat cake which we never normally give him) so I ate his too!
Is there anything we didn’t like?
Errrrm. It’s cake, it came through the letterbox, it’s small so you don’t feel like you are being greedy and it’s blimmin delicious. No, there isn’t anything we didn’t like! This morning in the kitchen, the other half (who wasn’t home at the time of testing) said to me, ‘that cake smells delicious – I can smell it through the tin’!
Says it all!
You can find the whole Baker Days range at http://www.bakerdays.com/.
I was sent this cake for the purpose of this review however all thoughts and words are my own.
***Update – Today Zach has eaten some cake after not wanting any on Tuesday. He devoured it in moments!!
