Mummascribbles – Siblings (March 2017) – Mummascribbles

My boys are six months into being brothers now. The relationship they have is beautiful. The way they look at each other, laugh together and play together is just beautiful. It honestly melts my heart just watching them.

There have been a few times this past couple of weeks where Zach has made Oscar do proper full on belly laughs. Once was when he was blowing raspberries on his tummy, and another was just a couple of days ago whilst Zach was sitting on the loo. He wasn’t even doing anything particularly funny but from the moment we sat edged on the bath, he was in hysterics at his big brother. I so wish I’d have had my camera with me to catch it on film but it was left behind in the urgency of the toilet situation.

This last month has also seen the start of brother baths! At the moment it’s not every time because sometimes Oscar isn’t in the mood or Zach wants a bath to himself (so he can have a big bath rather than the shallow one needed for his little brother), but when they do have one together it’s just so cute. Oscar just adores his big brother and so if he gets to do something the same as him, it is literally the best thing ever.

There are of course moments of frustration from Zach as every parent expects. Yes, most of the time they are beautiful together, but often if Oscar cries or wakes up deeply unhappy, and Zach is watching tv, he will immediately moan that he can’t hear! And also Oscar is very grabby and very strong and can quite often hurt Zach unintentionally – of which Zach is never particularly happy about!

I notice too, how different Oscar can be when Zach isn’t here. With him being at nursery on a Tuesday and Thursday, I can always sense Oscar being a bit more grouchy than usual, like he’s missing his big brother being around the house. And when we get to nursery for the pick up, if he is awake, he is always so so excited to see him.

It’s funny to see this relationship developing, the way they feel about each other, the things they do together. There is no doubt that Zach still thinks that having a little brother is the bees knees.

I have a lack of sibling photos from this month because Zach has decided that he doesn’t like having his taken right now! There is one absolute favourute though, totally unplanned but utterly beautiful – and taken whist I was on the loo!!

And here is a special little video captured of gorgeous laughter!
