Mummascribbles – Siblings (November 2016) – Mummascribbles

I have now been a mummy of two for two months. It really doesn’t feel like it can have been that long that I have had my second gorgeous boy in my life. The best part of becoming a family of four is watching my two sons forming a relationship. It was always going to be a slow process. With Oscar being so young I always knew there weren’t going to be any moments of them playing together and there was the not knowing how Zach would react to his new brother.

Thankfully just like month one, month two sees them absolutely adore each other and there have been some truly beautiful moments shared. One of the most special moments for me was one Tuesday night when me and Oscar were putting Zach to bed. It was time to read Zach his story so I laid Oscar down next to him on his pillow and read. Oscar was looking up at his big brother and giving him the biggest of smiles and it was just gorgeous. Had my phone not have been downstairs, I would have got a stunning photo.  

There is so much love between my two boys. Zach is forever kissing and cuddling Oscar. His favourite thing is to cuddle his tummy and he asks to hold him several times a day. He also has an obsession with his nappies and has to watch every change that he is home for to see if it’s a wee, a poo, or just a little wet fart! 

This month sadly saw Oscar become unwell with a horrible bout of cold. He’s been coughing and spluttering for a while but it was the 4am hospital trip that really had Zach worried about his little brother. Zach had woken up just as I was about to call 111 so he saw everything from Oscar having blood taken, to being hooked up to a monitoring machine and then being taken away in an ambulance. It was really hard for him and I know he wasn’t settled until we were all back together. 

There are of course moments when Zach isn’t quite as keen on his brother which is usually when I’m busy with him. Where he has been poorly, he’s needed lots of extra cuddles and to sleep upright which means that Zach has had to show off a bit more to get my attention. Luckily this is never directed at Oscar and the only thing he’s really tried to do is wake him up when he’s just fallen asleep! 

There really have been some beautiful brotherly moments over the last 4 weeks so here are a few of my favourites 🙂
