Mummascribbles – Something I haven't done in a long time! – Mummascribbles

On Tuesday night, I did something that I haven’t done in a very long time – I’d potentially say the last time I did it was pre Zach but I can’t confirm that since the last 2 years have whizzed by so fast, I no longer remember what happened when.

On Tuesday night I partied! We had a gala dinner as part of our conference and we all got dressed up to the nines, I wore heels for the first time in a gazillion years, I drunk (lots of) champagne, a little bit of vodka and some shots of Jaeger! I danced more than I have danced in a long time, I took my shoes off when my feet were too painful to dance in them, I whooped at the live band, I had a ball with my new colleagues, I went back to the hotel bar and I went to bed at 2.30am. The only time post Zach when I have been awake and not in bed at 2.30am is probably when I was breastfeeding!

I’ve never been great at staying up until the early hours and since being a mum it is a massive no. There is one thing waking up and having to do a relatively easy morning of work (which didn’t involve anything taxing since we were all hungover), but it’s another thing to drink and have a late night when your toddler is going to wake you up at 6am and you then have to pretend to be happy to play with him when all you really want to do is crawl back into bed feeling sorry for yourself! That’s why I just don’t do it anymore.

I enjoy a glass of wine but I wouldn’t tend to do a bottle by myself like I did in my pre Zach days. I don’t really drink very much at all anymore because usually I am driving and I just don’t want to wake up with a hangover and a toddler!

That’s why I let my hair down on Tuesday and what a brilliant night it was. From the moment the band started playing, I was on that dance floor and it was fantastic!

Unfortunately it’s now Thursday and I’m still absolutely exhausted… It’s probably going to take me a year to recover so I shan’t be doing it again for a while!!
