My ideal Winter living destination – #EscapeForWinter – Mummascribbles
This is a collaborative post
It seems pretty fitting that I should be writing this post at this very moment (it’s Sunday night), because it has been snowing here pretty much all day.
We never get snow – well, sometimes we get a tiny few flakes, a small dusting of white on top of the cars, but there has not been enough snow to build snowmen and have snowball fights since before Zach was born (in fact I am told that it was 2010 when we had the last large snowfall).
But today, there has been snow – a lot of snow. And throughout the day, we have looked in wonder at the glorious white stuff covering the ground, the trees and the cars. We have watched as a number of the neighbours had snowball fights out on the street. We have trudged to the shops to buy the groceries we needed and the much required wellies to replace my ones with holes in (I got wet feet on the way there!). And we have of course built a snowman. Our first ever snowman. I forgot how utterly freezing it is building a snowman but I totally embraced it.

And so, as I said above, it is pretty fitting that I have been asked to write about my ideal Winter living destination for the #EscapeForWinter campaign.
We always have our dream hot locations don’t we? To live in Australia, or Spain, or some other warm sunshiney place where we can spend our weekends on the beach or jumping into the swimming pool that we would all own! But it’s not often that we talk about our dream cold destination. And yet today, when we had all of that snowfall, it was utterly wonderful and it would be nice to dream about not having to wait another seven years for another Winter wonderland scenario. The problem is of course, over in the UK, we don’t deal with the snow very well do we? The roads are chaos (when I looked at Google Maps this morning, everywhere was full of huge traffic jams), and the railways go down. But other Countries seem to just crack on with it, because they have to!
So, where would I love to live? Which Wintery destination could I see myself living in?
Well, I’ve been having a think and I have decided that Norway is for me. This is all superficial of course. Even though we all hear that the Nordic Countries are the happiest places to live, I am sure that actually emigrating there would be much more difficult and that it would take some serious getting used to – especially with the long, dark months that they have.
However, when I googled ‘Norway houses’, I was blown away with the sheer beauty of them. The bright colours, the stunning landscapes surrounding them. I mean, who wouldn’t want to live here?

And then of course, there would be all of the interiors that I could kit it out with. It would be full on warmth.
There would be little nooks dedicated to cushions and candles, where I could sit and read my pile of books or sit and blog the day away (evidently I am doing this living in Norway pre or post young children!).

My desk (oh how I dream of having my own dedicated blogging space), would be in the brightest space, overlooking the breathtaking scenery for purely motivational days.

The bedroom would be the cosiest and warmest room with some gorgeous Julian Charles bedding, faux fur cushions and a throw to make me extra snug!

The living room would be one of pure comfort. Big slouchy sofas, plenty of cushions, thick warm fluffy rugs, thick curtains, and a real fireplace to warm my feet by! There would be candles galore, warm lighting and big mugs of hot cocoa (topped with whipped cream and marshmallows of course!).

The bathroom would have the biggest freestanding bath to soak myself in on those cold nights, and would be surrounded by luxurious bath delights to use! And of course, the biggest and softest fluffy towels to dry myself with, followed by my softest hooded dressing gown and slipper boots to keep me warm.

And the kitchen. Well the kitchen would basically look like this but with a massive Aga and underfloor heating to keep me toasty!

Writing this post has left me in some sort of dreamy Norwegian loving state. There is nothing quite like being cosied up on a freezing cold day and what a gorgeous destination to have chosen to be dreamy about.
If you fancy going on a further dreamy adventure, you should check out this ebook which takes you through the interior ages, from Canadian tipis to Welsh farmhouses. And when you’ve had a think about it, let me know what cold Country you would like to live in!
