Our recent pamper day! – Mummascribbles

A couple of months ago I was looking online to find somewhere local to have a pedicure done, because you know, I can no longer reach my feet and all that! As I was searching, I discovered The Hertfordshire Spa and even though it looked mighty luxurious, I had to have a look at their list. It was there that I noticed the ultimate pregnancy pamper day entitled the ‘Mum to be package’. 3 hours of treatments featuring a full body scrub, an arm and hand massage, a facial and the all important pedicure – it literally had me salivating at the thought of it. I copied the link and sent it to the other half with the statement,

If you think I deserve a treat at some point in the remainder of this pregnancy, you can book this for me.

I was expecting some kind of sarky response but instead I got,

If you can find a babysitter, we can both go!

***Note shocked face here***

And so that was it, we booked ourselves in (he was having a normal massage and spa session), and my Sister very happily said she’d have Zach for his first sleepover at their house. This meant we would be child free for the whole day and night – our own little babymoon before we have a new little one exhausting us!

The day came around and we dropped Zach off at my sister’s (he was SO excited!) and drove up to the Hertfordshire Spa. It’s a beautiful building set on a golf course, surrounded by trees and all things green. A perfect setting for a bit of a pamper.

We found our way up to the beauty salon and I was shown into the main area while the other half was shown down to the pool area. He was due to spend an hour and a half in the pool, steam room, jacuzzi and sauna and then have an hour and a half of treatment so we’d finish at the same time. Obviously, I couldn’t use anything other than the pool so I couldn’t be bothered!

After a while sitting in the very relaxing waiting area, I was taken into the room where I would spend the next two hours. The lovely lady talked me through my treatments and then begun. She started with the body scrub which was just lovely. I haven’t exactly been looking after my skin and it’s been very dry so it instantly felt refreshed. I popped into the shower and washed it all off and then she moved onto the arm and hand massage which was gorgeous. Next up was the facial. Oh my word. I haven’t had many facials in my time but really, I should have one every month. It was cream after cream after cream being smoothed into my skin and it just felt absolutely amazing. I was so relaxed and accepting of every single massage into my skin! Once she left one of the creams to soak in, she then went back to the rest of my body and went all over with moisturiser. Then back to the face to finish up and I walked out of that room feeling like the smoothest girl in town!

It was then time for my lunch and pedicure. I was seated back in the main area on a comfy chair and my feet were smoothed, buffed, popped into heated slippers and then the nails were painted. I went for a kind of bronze colour, quite summery but a colour that would go with anything I was wearing from my wardrobe.

I was just sitting and letting my toes dry when the other half appeared looking relaxed and with crazy hair from his head massage haha! I wished I’d have taken a photo. We sat and chilled for a few minutes before it was time to head on back to the car feeling fresh as a daisy.

We then had no plans! What would we do with the rest of our afternoon and evening?

Well of course, we found the nearest riverside pub, sat in the garden watching the narrowboats pass by, the ducks swimming along and the fishes trying not to be hunted and had a soft drink! While we were busy doing that, we had a look on the phones for a nearby restaurant, gave them a call, booked us in and headed on down there for some dinner. It was a gorgeous Italian restaurant who served up the biggest, freshest and tastiest pizza!

With full bellies, we drove back home and popped on a film for the evening that we had ahead of us!

Then, with happy, sleepy eyes, we went to bed.

It is always weird when Zach isn’t in the house. Going up to bed and seeing his empty room, knowing that he isn’t there sleeping his little head off, but after the day we’d spent relaxing, I was really glad that we wouldn’t have that potential disturbance in the night.

Typically we both woke up at 4am and both needed a pee! Ah well, it was great whilst it lasted and when I went to pick Zach up the next day, his little happy face was so chuffed to see me 🙂
