Our weekend happy – back to classes, water pistols, and a walk in the park! – Mummascribbles

We were on a bit of a come down this weekend after our lovely week away! The boys were confused as to why we weren’t still on holiday, and the attitude had returned from Zach! Oh yes, we were in for a treat! We did manage to capture a few happy moments though!

Saturday 22nd June

It was business as usual come Saturday. Straight back into swimming for Zach and when we rocked up (a few mins late), we discovered that he was finally in the next class up! And it was incredible because he so needed it!

He went over to his new class, got in the pool, and showed the teacher that he could swim with no floats. And then they went round to the deep end…the proper deepest end, and it was time to swim in there for the first time! I couldn’t have been more proud when he got in. I thought the deep end would freak him out, but it didn’t. He first swam with a float with both hands. Then he swam with one hand on the float and one up and down. And then he went for it and swam with no floats. And he swam. All the way to the point where he was required to swim to. What a clever boy!

Once the lesson was over, we popped in to the cafe for a treat, and then we had to dash off as the other half was waiting to go out with Oscar and I had his keys because I couldn’t find mine (they were hiding in the kitchen).

Once we were home, they went out to the park and Zach and I chilled at home (well I hoovered), until it was time to go to performing arts. And while he was in there, I spent the time working as usual!

Performing arts finished and we went home where Oscar was asleep and the other half was in the garden. Washing was hung out (that post holiday wash!), and lunch was made as Oscar woke up.

The afternoon was spent with a mixture of the kids running wild with water pistols, washing going up and coming down and me cleaning the house and unpacking stuff, before we did dinner and put the boys to bed!

Sunday 23rd June

I went down with the boys first thing and the other half accidentally went back to sleep! He woke up though and there was still time for me to sneak back to bed for a while, so I took my freshly made cuppa up there and dozed off my tiredness.

Once I was back up, it was time to get ready and get Oscar out to football. He kept mentioning that he wanted Daddy to come too, but neither Daddy or Zach were ready, so it was just he and I. I thought he might mess about but he had a really good session and it was a really active one for parents as well!

Once it was over, we went back home and then we went over to the nearby country park to try and get him to sleep. It didn’t work though and instead he decided to get out of his buggy and walk!

He was clearly not going to fall asleep, so we went back home and had some lunch. In between hanging the washing out to dry, the boys played a bit in the front room, watched some technology, and I had a dust and changed all of the beds before I had to take Zach to his friend’s birthday party.

The party was in a cafe about ten minutes away from us, so we went down there and while Zach and his friends ran around like loons (the Mum of the boy whose party it was is very heavily pregnant so it was a very relaxed affair), I sat and drank tea with a few of the other school Mums.

And then when it was time to go, we said our goodbyes, jumped in the car, and drove back home, finding Daddy in the kitchen preparing dinner. We ate fajitas and then once again, it was time for the boys to go to bed.

It was a pretty non eventful weekend, although they had just had the most fun week, so I think it was needed!
