Our weekend happy – classes, garden time, and a trip to Paradise! – Mummascribbles
The day started pretty early with the boys and whilst it was quite a chaotic start to the day with arguments a plenty between them, it was soon time to go to swimming. Oscar decided that he wanted to come with us but the other half wasn’t ready, so I ended up taking them both on my own which isn’t exactly an easy task – it’s pretty tricky to focus on what Zach is doing in the pool when Oscar is wandering around!

Once the class was over and I had managed to get Zach showered and dried, we went out to the cafe to grab them a chocolate rice cake each and then once they had eaten those, we went out into the park for a while where they made a friend with another girl from swimming who just happened to share the exact same birth date with Zach!

When I decided they had had long enough at the park, we drove home where I immediately made myself some brekkie. The boys chilled out for a while before it was time to take Zach to performing arts.
The other half was going to try and take Oscar out for a nap but of course, he doesn’t really do that anymore and he point blank refused! Instead, they did some reading and then went out into the garden to play footie. I sat at performing arts working, and then when Zach was finished, we headed for home.
I remembered on the way back that I needed to go to the beauticians straight away to get my eyebrows threaded and as soon as I mentioned it, Zach wanted to come too. I decided to let him, so we parked at home and then quickly popped over there for my appointment. We then popped into the shops to grab some cakes and then went home to have lunch, see the others and eat cake!

Lunch was eaten in the garden and the boys were busy playing for a little while. We decided to take the bouncy castle down, and we also decided to get rid of the rabbit hutch. Magic is clearly not coming back, we aren’t planning on getting any more small furry friends, and even if we were, we would get a new hutch because that one was on its last legs. When the other half had finished taking it apart, I did some weeding of the patio area and the boys were busy sweeping it for me. Zach had gotten his litter picker out and then Oscar stole it from him, so I then decided to secretly take Zach out to do some actual litter picking.
Once we were done and had a nice clean street, we went home and dinner was on and ready for the potatoes to be done. I set the boys up with some stamping stuff after Oscar had requested to do some painting (but it was too close to dinner), and we finished off the roast before everyone sat down to eat.

After dinner, it was time for an Oscar bath and then stories and bed because he was very tired. Despite his usual messing around, he was asleep pretty quickly, but Zach was still wide awake, so I asked him if he wanted us to stay or go, and he said we could go. So off downstairs we went, the laptop out, computer on, and Jurassic Park found on ITV2!
Sunday 14th July
Well I thought Saturday was early, but on Sunday Oscar had me up at 5.25 – I was not impressed!
Zach came down an hour later and then the other half about 7.20, at which point I snuck upstairs for a bit more rest. I had been awake for so long that I couldn’t sleep again, but I did have some eye rest and then got up a while later to find the boys playing Connect Four.

We were all going to football with Oscar because it was presentation day. So we all got ready and drove up there – Daddy did the class with Oscar and then at the end the presentations happened and Oscar got his certificate and medal which he was so proud of.

After class, we got him changed and then jumped in the car and dropped Daddy at the train station as he was going to a pub in London to meet his mate to watch the cricket final. We then carried on up the road to Paradise Wildlife Park which I had only planned the night before. The boys were super excited, although Oscar did nod off briefly on the short journey – but awoke as soon as we got there.
We went in with our passes (and Oscar’s ticket), nipped to the loo and popped onto the diggers, at which point I had text the other half to make sure he had gotten his train OK as there were delays. He responded with a yes, but also asking if I had shut Oscar’s window – which no, I hadn’t because they had climbed over to the front and I hadn’t gone round to his side. So we had to traipse all the way back to the car (which was in the second car park across the road), and then traipse all the way back again to start our visit!
We finally got started by going on the dino train which they always love, and then went over to the play area for a run around – only after a short time, Oscar fell over and knocked off a pre-existing scab which resulted in blood and a trip to get a plaster from first aid!
We decided at this point to grab some lunch so Oscar could rest his stinging leg, so the boys scoffed down a hotdog each (and Zach some chips and beans too), and I had a BBQ pulled pork bun and chips! And once we were finished, we went back outside, the boys saw there was a quiz show on so went over to the stage area, and I bumped into someone I used to know from Zach’s gymnastics class. She was there with her two daughters so we had a chat while they played and then we all went around the dinosaur bit before saying our goodbyes. Then, as Zach decided to try climbing onto a statue gorilla, he slipped and grazed up half his leg!
I managed to calm him down and we then went over to the animals (I literally had to drag them there) and were mighty impressed with the new lion enclosure.
We then had a wander round some of the animals, and of course, our fave gorgeous tigers were doing their usual show for us!
Once we were done in the animals, I took the boys over to the soft play where they had an hour of running around, before I called time and took them home for dinner.
They played in the garden while I cooked pizza for them and fish for me, then we ate whilst I was watching the tennis final. At that point, Oscar started falling asleep on the sofa, so I grabbed his pj’s and he then had an absolute meltdown because he was so tired. I managed to get him ready, and both of them upstairs, where we read three stories (he is never too tired for multiple stories) as I sneakily watched tennis on my phone, and then they laid down and fell asleep just after it had finished.
I went downstairs, made myself a cuppa, and then sat down to work, watching the end half of Titanic, followed by the end half of The Meg. And then I went to bed!
We had a fab weekend and even though going to Paradise wasn’t exactly easy because they were a bit whingey and kept hurting themselves, we did have loads of fun!
