Our weekend happy – friends at class, garden time and park time – Mummascribbles
The morning started out way too early for me as Oscar decided that he wanted a wee at 5.55am and that was it, we were up. Zach joined us shortly after and I spent the morning struggling to parent! The other half joined us at 7.30 and then I jumped in the shower and got ready to take Zach to swimming.
He had an amazing lesson. His confidence in the water is so good now, he was swimming in the big pool completely by himself and then at the end of the lesson, back in the little pool, he swam under water! I could not believe it but he did and I was so blooming proud!
After the lesson, we went to the cafe with his friend, brother and Mum, and they all had some biccies and a drink (Zach chose a strawberry milkshake which I finished). He had asked his friend if he would like to come to performing arts this week as it was bring a friend week, and it was fine so we said we would see them in a short while and went home.

The other half jumped in the shower when we got back, and I made everyone bowls of fruit which we all ate. The boys then had a bit of tablet and iPad time, I hoovered upstairs, and then it was time for the next usual part of Saturday – performing arts and Oscar nap time! We all left at the same time and Zach and I went to class where his friend Jacob was waiting.
They went off to class and Jacob’s Mum went for a run whilst I sat and wrote a piece of blog content, and then she came back and joined me until the boys came out a short while later beaming. It is the second time that Jacob has joined Zach and it seems that his Mum has been swayed as he will be joining after half term – Zach is so excited!
Once we were done, we went back home again and found Oscar asleep and the other half in the garden working on the wall again! He needed extra stones though so while I made lunch, he and Zach popped down to Homebase. And just as lunch was made, Oscar woke up so he joined us in the garden where we pretty much remained for the rest of the afternoon!

The other half carried on with the wall, the boys did a mixture of getting in the way, trying to help, and pretending to do it themselves. I made up a mud kitchen for them in the tuff tray and that was played with for approximately two minutes, and in between all of that, there was an awful lot of arguments, and a bit of shouting when I was trying to talk to our next door neighbour, as Zach was insistent that I pay attention to him.

After all of that, the raindrops started, the boys went inside and sat watching the iPad while the other half cleaned up his stuff from the garden, and I finished cooking the roast. We then ate, got them ready for bed and got them asleep. It had been a difficult parenting day so I think we breathed a sigh of relief when we got back downstairs and chilled out for the evening!

Sunday 20th May
It was my turn for a lay in, however I always have to pretend to get up and then sneak off, so I went down to the loo, and snuck right back off again. Only the kids decided to make so much noise, I barely slept any more! I did drift off at one point but was awoken by them yelling at each other while the other half was on the toilet!
It wasn’t long before I was up and we all got ready and had breakfast. The other half was off to watch footie at Wembley all day, so I was solo parenting, which meant I had to take both of them to Oscar’s football class. Last time I was on my own with them there, Zach was a bit of a nightmare, but I have to say that he was much better this time – remembering that it wasn’t his class and that he had to let Oscar and the other little kids play – not him! He did get to join in with a couple of games, helping Oscar and chasing him around, and they both had fun (although Oscar was knackered by the last ten mins and struggled a bit!).

Once we were done there, we went home and got Oscar in the buggy and out for his nap, and once he was asleep, we popped to the house and grabbed our litter picking equipment and cleaned our road (Zach’s new little volunteering venture!).
We then went back home where I hung the washing out, made and ate lunch, and then started cleaning the rabbit out, only for Oscar to wake up half way through. He was OK though, and he came straight out to help me. We finished up and I made him some lunch, and then when he had eaten, we got ourselves set and went up to the park. Both of them were on their scooters, although Oscar was on and off his and I spent some time pulling him along (even though I had said I wouldn’t).
We spent a couple of hours there where the boys played for ages on the mound with loads of other kids (including one of Zach’s school friends who we bumped into), and then we went to the cafe for ice cream, they scooted around for a bit, Oscar climbed a tree (with a lot of help), and just had loads of fun.
We went home, via Tesco, and then as soon as we got in, it was time for me to make sausage and mash for dinner. Only I totally hadn’t ordered sausages in the shopping, the potatoes were already on when I discovered, and so it was fish for me and fishfingers for them. Not that they minded – they were moaning about having sausages anyway!
And then, we had eaten so late and they had spent so long wrestling each other towards the end of it, that it was time to get them ready and up to bed. Once they were asleep, I went downstairs, sorted the rabbit out with his antibiotics (easier said than done I tell you!), made a cup of tea, and sat down with my laptop and a film!
Even though Saturday did have its tricky moments, we did have a really lovely weekend. Sunday was super lovely at the park 🙂
