Our weekend happy – soft play, a spa day and a town event! – Mummascribbles
The other half had been out all day and night on Friday, so I got up with the boys and got them breakfasted and sorted. He had asked me if I could take Oscar swimming with us so he could get ready, so the boys and I went, though we were running pretty late. When we got there, it was so quiet because of the Summer holidays and there was only Zach and his friend Jacob in their class! Oscar sat with me on the tablet while I had a chat with Jacob’s Mum, and then when they were out, we quickly got him out, dried, dressed and into the cafe for their morning treat. Oscar chose some yogurt topped rice cakes and Zach chose some Custard Creams. I then got them back to the car and drove home, caught up a little bit with the other half, and then I went out!

I drove to meet my Sister at a nearby Bannatyne’s where we were having a spa day. She was already there when I pulled up and we went in, got our spa bag, and went to get changed before heading straight into the swimming pool.
We then spent a couple hours swimming, going in and out of the hot tub and into the sauna too, oh and talking too! We then decided it was time for lunch, so we popped out robes on and went out into the cafe for a bite to eat.

I checked my phone at this point and saw that the other half was on his way to soft play with the boys and they were entertaining all the OAP’s on the bus!

Once my Sister and I had rested and had our food, we went back into the pool, hot tub and sauna for another couple of hours before it was time to get showered and ready for our treatments.

We had a little time to spare so we went into the relaxation room and then we were called through for our treatments. We had a back massage, scalp massage and a facial and it was AMAZING. We were SO relaxed by the end of it!

We went and got ourselves dressed and then went to our cars, but the day wasn’t over. Oh no – we drove round the corner to have dinner at Frankie and Benny’s which was fab. I had potato skins, a rack of ribs and we shared a chocolate fudge cake for dessert. It was delicious.

Only then was it time to head home, so we each got in our cars and drove home. I parked up and Whatsapped the other half to make sure the kids were asleep, and they were, so in I went and immediately got my PJ’s on to continue my relaxing day. I wrote the Saturday part of this post and then went to bed because all the relaxing had left me very tired!
Sunday 28th July
I woke up with a headache on Sunday morning, and the other half was super tired. The boys did an ok-ish job at entertaining themselves and we stayed in bed as long as possible. Eventually the other half got up and I just stayed in bed for ten more minutes to try and shift the headache which worked a treat.
Once we were all up, we breakfasted and got ready, and then we went over to the shops, where there was also a community event happening with entertainment and live performances.
The boys went on the two rides and saw Belle and Moana, then we did our shopping, and then we passed the cake stall to grab some yummy bits for after lunch. The live music hadn’t yet started so we decided to go back home for lunch, telling the boys we may go back later when it was fully in swing.

We had our lunch, ate our tasty treats and then immediately, Zach was asking to go back over the road. So we did, and had a thoroughly good time. We watched the steel pans being played and they performed some of Zach’s favourite songs. We also saw a lady singer, followed by more steel pans played by children. The boys enjoyed listening to the music 🙂
Once that was finished, we popped into Homebase where, as promised, we let the kids look at the kitchens before we went to the garden area to see if we could get any plants for our planter. There didn’t seem to be any though, so we gave up and went home again!
Once home, we let the boys have some technology time, the other half fell asleep, and I struggled to stay awake as I was writing some of this post! I had a nice cup of tea though, and then it was time to do dinner.
The boys chilled out while a cooked a lasagne, and then we all ate before it was time for the usual bedtime routine!
Once they were asleep, I spent the evening doing some work, the other half played computer, and then it was time for bed for these two tired parents!
We had a lovely weekend with a lot of variety.
