Our weekend happy – the final rugby, a hair cut & a second swim! – Mummascribbles

This weekend was a bit of a write off with illness in the house once again. I hate this time of year! Luckily we didn’t have any major plans.

Saturday 9th February

It started out with our usual Saturday morning. We were up super early, although the other half did sneak back to bed for a while as he’d been out on Friday night. I had hardly had any sleep because Oscar had yet another cough and he wouldn’t let me out of his sight, so we were all a bit exhausted.

We got ourselves ready and went up to the leisure centre where Zach’s swimming is and Oscar’s rugby. It was Oscar’s last session because they are moving venues and it just doesn’t work for us, so we aren’t signing back up. Typically, Oscar had his best session yet – playing all the games, doing the tries properly, throwing and catching without messing around, and scoring a goal twice! Typical hey?!

Once we were all done and we’d said our thanks and goodbye to coach, we went to the car and went home where we had some breakfast, made some lunch for me to eat at performing arts, and then the other half took Oscar out to the shops for his nap and I took Zach to his class where I spent an hour and half reading my book (I’ve actually nearly finished it!).

When Zach came out, I’d had a message to say that Oscar had a temperature and was feeling poorly. Luckily he was happy chilling out with Daddy and so I dropped Zach off and stayed in the car and then I drove over to my hairdressers house as I had finally booked to have my hair coloured and cut (it’s been about a year since I got it done!).

I spent the next 2.5 hours having a good old chat with my hairdresser and came out with some nice new hair. Nothing too wild and not as short as I normally go, because I’m keeping it longer for the wedding next year and my hair takes AGES to grow!

I popped to the nearby Sainsbury’s to grab some ibuprofen for Oscar and then went back to the car and drove home to my boys. There was a mix of play, and Oscar being stuck on my lap for the remainder of the afternoon until it was time for dinner.

After dinner, both boys were very tired and so we got them ready for bed (which was a bit of a battle with both of them) and got them upstairs where they were both asleep within about five minutes of us turning the lights out.

Unfortunately, Oscar only slept for about half an hour before he woke up hideously upset with his cough. So I took him downstairs and he spent the evening asleep on me while I did some client work and watched The Voice, before I then took him upstairs for what I thought was going to be another horrendous night of sleep!

Sunday 10th February

Well the night wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be – pretty disturbed and I did get woken a few times but I did manage to get some sleep, and then he decided it was time to get up at 6.30. And he was hideously unhappy and everyone was up and tired. I felt horrendous but once again, I was stuck underneath him all morning!

Poor Zach hadn’t exactly had an exciting weekend so far, and so the other half took him swimming as that’s what he’d been asking to do. So they went off to the pool, and Oscar and I remained glued to the sofa. I popped We’re Going On A Bear Hunt on for him, gave him some cheerios, and managed to jump in the shower and get dressed really quickly before I was summoned back to the sofa.

I figured he was going to fall asleep on the sofa, so I popped on some YouTube on TV and stroked his head and within minutes he was fast asleep.

I moved over to the other sofa where I laid down myself and tried to nap (the cat even joined me!). I find it really hard to daytime nap though, but I did managed to rest my eyes for 45 minutes before the others came home.

Oscar stirred awake a bit but fell straight back to sleep, and then I went and helped the other half make lunch and we went upstairs to eat. Zach was watching Harry Potter and then I heard Oscar wake up so I went down but he wasn’t ready to be awake, and he laid on my chest and went straight back to sleep again! And I had another little snooze for a while.

He eventually woke up properly and we went upstairs to find Daddy and Zach, only to find Zach fast asleep!

We went back downstairs where I spent the remainder of the afternoon pinned to the sofa under Oscar (where I managed to write this post!), other than small moments where he had a little play.

Zach had joined us and was busy playing with his doctors kit, his tools and his post office set, we watched some of the rugby before the other half continued watching it on his phone while he cleaned the rabbit out and cooked a roast, and Oscar sat watching Room On The Broom before he finally got up and played a tiny bit more.

We then ate our yummy dinner, survived until bedtime and took them upstairs to sleep (Zach took ages to go off of course because of the daytime nap) – wondering what kind of evening/night we would have!

I watched Dancing on Ice while doing some more work, and then went to bed 🙂

It wasn’t the most exciting weekend. Everyone was tired, Oscar was up and down with his temperature, but I’m glad the other half managed to get out with Zach so he had some fun!
