Sometimes all the planning can go wrong! – Mummascribbles

A few weeks ago we were walking through one of the local shopping centres and I was accosted by a lady representing the local professional photographers that I drive past every week. I usually try and walk past very quickly but I was summoned over and spoken to about their special offer. I could sign up there and then for half price or if I gave my details there was a chance that we would be selected for a free family photo-shoot session. I thought it was worth a go so I didn’t pay any money there and then as I didn’t have any!

A week or so later I got a phone call to say we had been selected 🙂 I phoned them up and agreed the date and time, thinking 16:30 would be a perfect time for Zach, post nap when he’s happiest.

So today we went along for the shoot. Zach happily carried down the road by Daddy (we couldn’t risk letting him walk and fall over minutes before the camera was to be on his face) and all was good.

Until we walked into the photographers!

Apparently, it wasn’t somewhere Zach wanted to be. He didn’t like the nice comfy waiting area and grabbed us both by the hands, trying to take us back out to the street.

He didn’t like it when we had to walk through the corridor to the studio and he especially didn’t like it when we got into the studio!

He simply wasn’t happy at all.

I couldn’t believe it, I’d specifically chosen the time of day when he was always happy and he couldn’t have been more unhappy at that moment!

The photographer left us to get him settled for a while and he did slowly start being more comfortable with his surroundings.

That was until the photography started!

For the majority of the time, we had to trick him over to the white side of the studio where all photos were required to be taken!

There was a period of time when he refused point blankly to cross over the line where the white side of the studio started – he stayed stuck to the wooden side!

Even the ‘flashing lights’ from the camera only kept him happy for a few photos – he was more interested in trying to work out how the camera worked!

I’d say that it was about three quarters of the way through the shoot that he started feeling more comfortable.

He joined us on the floor where he’d refused earlier, he sat on the stool for photos when earlier that was a no, and he was happily kissing Daddy & I for cute pictures!

Typical!

All in all, it wasn’t the complete disaster that I thought it was going to be when we’d first walked through their doors. And the lady said it looked like she got some great shots.

So we’ll be back there in some weeks (they are so busy!) to view the photos and choose our free picture.

I have until then to save up some money to buy any more!

The cost of them is shocking but I just know they are going to be gorgeous!
