Tasty snacking with Primula – Mummascribbles
If there’s one thing I love about working with brands, it’s the relationship that can be built between you. I have worked with Primula previously where they sent me a fab night in pack that we thorougly enjoyed and I have also worked with them on a charity campaign that they were running. So when they got in touch to find out if I wanted to become a part of the Primula Blogger Club, I felt really honoured that they wanted me. What was even more exciting was the project itself. For the next six months, I will receive some lovely goodies of which I have to use in recipes that are based on the theme suggested by themselves. I have to say, I am not the best cook in the world (although I do make a mean roast and homemade lasagne!) so I thought what a great thing to get me in the kitchen more whilst creating (hopefully) yummy food and hopefully making your mouths water with some fetching photography (something else I am keen to work on).
Here we are in November and just over a week ago I received the first set of Primula spreads to experience ‘Real Cheese, Real Character’.
As the November theme is snacking, I was asked to create something perfect for snacking with friends and family, using their new range of products. The first thing that popped into my head that would be perfect for this was potato wedges. Now I make a mean roast potato but of course wedges are a a very different shape. Off I went though with my little challenge and here is my recipe.
1. Scrub or rinse the potatoes.
2. Slice the potatoes in half down the centre and then slice each half into wedge shaped pieces.
3. Place into pre-boiled water and part boil for approximately 8 minutes.
4. While the water is boiling, pour a generous amount of oil into a roasting pan and pop into the oven on whichever temperature you think appropriate. I say that because I am well aware that all ovens are different and despite knowing that these should really go on gas mark 6, in my oven they would take ages to cook so I whack it on a much higher heat!
5. While the potatoes are bobbling away and the oil is heating up, chop up a clove of garlic very finely or grate or crush. Whatever you find easier!
6. When the potatoes are part boiled, drain the water and allow them to sit for a minute to release all steam. Once ready, take the roasting pan out of the oven, pop in the garlic and swizz it around a bit.
You can then pop the potatoes in. Stir the potatoes around in the oil so that each of them has been completely covered and then sprinkle over some mixed herbs.
Swizz it all around again and place into the oven for approximitely half an hour, swizzing them around in the oil every now and then to keep them from sticking to the pan.
7. After half an hour (or whenever you think they are ready), take them from the oven and serve. Hopefully they’ll look a little something like this.
8. And here’s the best part – with all of the yummy Primula products…enjoy! I also toasted some flatbread to go alongside the wedges.
We tried out quite a few of the dips and tubes. The cheese with onion dip was absolutely delicious with the wedges, as was the cheese with chive tube. Zach absolutely loved the limited edition cheese with smoked salmon and also the cheese with prawns – they are full of flavour and he was dipping both the wedges and the flatbread in it and asking for more, more, more!
The other half was brave enough to give the cheese with chilli a go which he said came with a bit of an after kick!
I love the way the tubes squeeze out like you are icing a cake. They are very decorative and doing it for presentation would make it extra attractive.
So now thanks to Primula, I have the perfect tools for a Christmas evening in with friends and family. I also have a fab after nursery treat for Zach since he is such a fan. And the fact that they are full of real cheese makes a happy mummy!
The Primula range is available in ASDA and the Primula Smoked Salmon is Limited Edition – so grab it whilst you can!
We were sent this range of Primula products as part of the Primula blogger club and for the purposes of this review. As always, all thoughts and words are my own.
