The holidays are over – Mummascribbles

Well Christmas happened, the new year has passed and tomorrow it’s time to go back to work. I feel incredibly sad as I have had the best two weeks with my boy ever. It’s been so lovely being home as a family and I had a couple of days of just me and Zach which was extra special. It really helped to get that special bond back between the two of us and I finally feel wholly loved again. There has still been some daddy do it but there’s also been a lot of mummy. There’s been lots of cuddles, kisses, tickles and laughing and I feel like I have been the mummy that he wants me to be to him.

Of course, Monday morning will see the return of the 5.45am alarm clock, the early drive to my mum’s and the whole day of leaving him. Tuesday will bring the nursery drop off and everything will return to normality – though it’s a normality that I dislike hugely!

So much has happened over the past two weeks and there have been so many proud mummy moments it’s brilliant.

  • Zach has got his pleases and thank you’s mostly in the right order and from the bathroom last night, I heard him shout Mummy can you bring the towel please?. He also apologised to the other half off his own back over what was an accident. I think he accidentally bashed into his legs and he immediately said sorry daddy. So cute
  • The dummy has completely gone. We didn’t even have to send it to Santa like the health visitor suggested, he just decided that he no longer needed it for his naps (he hasn’t had it in the daytime for a while now) and that was it. He doesn’t ask for it…if he does mention it, it’s instantly forgotten and I think we can safely throw them away.
  • He has been weeing on the potty! Admittedly it didn’t start when I hoped it would…in fact it was on Friday that he did the first one! We’ve been encouraging him for the whole holidays, he’s been sitting on it with nothing happening but on Friday I took it out of the bathroom and into the living room and he sat on it and done a tiny wee. Since then we have had 8 wee’s on it, with this mornings being the biggest. He has lots of smiley faces on his reward chart which he is very happy about.
  • Tooth brushing has become easier since we’ve been using a sticker chart – although he’s rewards are literally just stickers at the moment – it’s been Christmas so he’s already had tons of goodies!
  • His speech is ridiculous! He makes so much sense now and we’ve just been shocked about what he knows and how he can form sentences. This morning he got one mixed up, thought about it and corrected himself!
  • He’s doing brilliantly with his letters. He likes to play the alphablocks game on the Ipad and he’s learnt so much on it. So much so that the other day he managed to spell foot and then food all on his own just by listening to the phonic sounds

To say I’ve been proud of him over the past two weeks is an understatement.

What new things have your little ones done over the Christmas break? Are you ready to go back to work or have you already started back? I’m dreading that alarm tomorrow!

Here’s some of my favourite photos from the last couple of weeks Apologies, they are iPhone pics so not the best quality!
