The Mummascribbles family is expanding! – Mummascribbles
If you aren’t following my Facebook, Twitter or Instagram accounts then firstly whyever not and secondly, you’d have missed this rather big announcement…
Yes that’s right, we are expecting baby number two! I’ll be 13 weeks tomorrow (Thursday) and the little wriggling jiggling bean growing inside me is just wonderful.
It wasn’t all easy at the scan. At first baby wasn’t playing ball but the sonographer couldn’t understand why she couldn’t see clearly. Then she asked if I’d had a c-section and all became clear – my scar tissue was getting in the way of visibility! So after several attempts, lots of water, some Jelly babies and some walking, I had to have an internal scan which was absolutely fine and we saw an even clearer image of baby which was amazing.

So, 13 weeks in and I’m feeling OK. I’ve had the usual nausea – no sickness (other than when I had the flu), but lots of wretching. Eurgh! That seems to have passed now though thank goodness. I have been incredibly tired. Apparently it’s much harder being pregnant when you are working full time and have a three and a half year old! There have been many Saturday afternoon snoozes on the sofa!
We are so happy and so excited – this baby is very very much wanted and whilst originally I wanted a much smaller age gap, I am really happy with how it’s turned out. Zach will be about to turn four when his sibling is due (it’s due less than 2 weeks before his birthday!). It’s so lovely how aware he is already of the growing baby in mummy’s tummy – although I’m not sure that the constant question of “is the baby still growing” isn’t going to get a little bit tedious. He is though, very happy and very excited and it’s just beautiful how caring he is already being, telling me he needs to be careful of my tummy when he’s cuddling me because he doesn’t want to squish the baby!
Despite this however, he wasn’t keen when we first told him! We picked him up from nursery with the photo of the scan in the car. I think he was a little overwhelmed by what he was being told and then because we laughed, that made it even worse! Once I explained what it really meant though, he was fine! Here’s what happened!
So there we go. Many many more weeks of growing the newest member of the Mummascribbles house. Many many more weeks of worry (you just can’t help worrying the entire time!). Many more weeks of Zach trying to show people the baby in my tummy and many more weeks of questions! Bring on September I say!
