Zach's finished bedroom! – Mummascribbles

Since we moved into our house in April, our main focus has been to complete Zach’s room. In our old flat, his cot was in our room (the only bedroom), the walls were already painted yellow and we stuck a couple of pictures on the wall along with his beautiful banner made by a friend when he was born. I was always a bit upset that we never got to decorate a nursery for him but dealt with it!

Fast forward a bit and he got his own bedroom (yay), that we could decorate for his toddlerhood and it’s been lots of fun getting it all together. Here’s the finished product.

The other half and I painted all the walls blue and then he used his hidden talents to create this beautiful mural above Zach’s cot.

On the opposite side of the room, Zach has a cupboard with drawers, a wardrobe and a toy chest all from Ikea. They are all half sizes in height so that they are easily accessible for Zach and the doors have the special catches so they can’t be slammed shut!

In the corner next to his cot is a bookcase with drawers. The shelves are already overloaded with books so we’ll be spreading some into his other cupboard! Again it’s a half height so he can reach it all.

Over on the final wall, he has his Little Tikes kitchen and Crayola easel along with his lovely banner hung up.

His curtains are from Next. Originally we were going to get jungle themed ones but the ones I liked went out of production and I found these which actually work much better with the decor we ended up with

I picked his lampshade up in a shop on the Southbank near my office. I’d been looking for a lampshade for ages but couldn’t find one I liked until I spotted this whilst on my lunch break. I knew immediately that it was the one and the other half agreed so I bought it! It was a tad more expensive that I would normally pay but it was worth it. It’s by a very clever lady at Lisa Jones Studio and is simply perfect

Finally, his BigJigs train set. My sister bought this for him for his second birthday and I really wanted it to stay on one piece for him to play with (or more that I couldn’t be bothered to keep putting it together!). We did look at buying one of the tables designed for train sets but decided it would take up far too much of his bedroom so with a little help from Twitter, I discovered this BigJigs mat which is wonderful. I can move it easily enough to hoover under it without having to break up the pieces

The only other thing we need to do is take the bars down on his cot and make it into a bed. But first I need to order him a big boy duvet!

So that’s Zach’s room and what a lucky little boy he is! The other half always says how jealous he is of it – it is pretty cool for a toddler!!
