{AD – Gifted} Hannah the Spanner and the Diamond Robbery – review and giveaway! – Mummascribbles

{AD – Gifted}

I recently featured an interview on here with Stuart Simmons, ex-cricketer turned children’s author, and I was very kindly sent a copy of one of the books from his series featuring Hannah the Spanner.

We always love getting new books and can’t wait to sit down and read them, and it was certainly the case with this one because the front cover was instantly captivating to the kids.

The story is based upon Hannah and her classmates who have gone on a school trip to the Natural History Museum in London. On route to London, the coach is stopped by the police who are looking for some dangerous robbers who have broken into the Bank of London. Of course, none of the class had seen them and they went on their way to the museum, followed by a trip on a London bus tour. And it is on the bus that Hannah meets two grumpy old ladies and she soon realises they aren’t who they seem. They are of course the robbers in disguise, and after she grabs their umbrellas full of diamonds and runs off with them, Hannah and her friend Aubrey are chased round London! Will they get the diamonds back to where they belong and be heroes? Well, you’ll have to read the book!

The book is really fab. It has humour and heroism, and a bit of sarcasm too which is great for the adult reader to appreciate! The story is written perfectly so that is enjoyable for the kids to listen to, but in a way that is also great for my 8 year old to read by himself. The characters are funny and believable, and the pictures really bring the story to life. Full of colour and fun!

Hannah The Spanner is a series of books in which there are currently seven titles. There is also a brand new release under a new character – Harry and the Karate Monkey – so there is much more to come from Stuart!
