From drab to fab: How I'd like to transform my small bathroom – Mummascribbles
This is a collaborative post
I have never lived in a house with a large bathroom. The one at my parents house was on the small side – not tiny, just not big. The bathrooms in all of the flats I have lived in over the years have been pretty small, and the one in our house now is tiny! It has everything we need – a bath (with shower attachment), a sink and a toilet. There is however no real floor space and so we have no storage on the ground. We can’t even get a cupboard around the sink because there is uneven space on each side and we just cannot find one that will fit – it would have to be made to measure and well, we just don’t have the inclination to do that!
What we do have is a rather old wooden cupboard on the wall that quite possibly looks like it might one day fall down! In that, we store medicines, razors, scissors, combs etc. And for all of the stuff we use everyday, we have three glass shelves on each side of the bathroom that are cluttered full of shampoo, bubble bath, shower gel. You name it, it’s on there!
I dream of sprucing up our whole bathroom. It was perfectly fine when we moved in just over three and a half years ago, but it’s starting to look a bit drab – a bit in need of modernisation. I would love new tiles and I would especially love a new bath/sink/toilet combo that I have chosen myself. I know my other half will literally be laughing reading this post because I am spending money in my head that we just don’t have (especially after I quit my quite well paid job last year to stay at home with the kids and blog!), but you know, we all have dreams and the bathroom (and kitchen) are my dream! Well, to be fair, the kitchen is his dream too but his dream involves a whole extension which is so far from our dreams, it’s just not going to happen!
But, back to the bathroom as it is now. It is small, it is basic and I would love to give it a little transformation and with the help of Lumino Bathooms, I have been getting some ideas of what I’d like.
The first thing I would do is sort out the wall storage!
They have a wonderful array of LED cabinets that are ideal for creating ambience or adding extra illumination. Because it is small, our bathroom can be quite dark so extra light would be very welcome.
Owing to the fact our current cupboard is wooden, the only mirror that we have is a tiny round one one the windowsill. I would love to have a mirrored cupboard on the wall and the Como cabinet here, would be the perfect fit. It has the lighting, plenty of shelving and more importantly, a heated demister pad! No more having to wipe the mirror clear of moisture!

And of course, having a toothbrush and razor charging point attached would be hugely welcome. I usually charge my toothbrush in the kitchen and the other half charges his razor in the front room!
The next thing I would love to buy is new taps. Ours can become quite loose and sometimes the end knobs fall off where we forget to tighten them when they are used. Also, if you don’t pull the handle enough, the hot tap can keep on running without you realising it which obviously increases the gas bill! I love the waterfall style taps so would definitely be looking to install some in there at some point.

And finally, a new shower is what I would really love.
Randomly, we have two showers in the bathroom. One is attached to the taps and one is an electric one that is on the wall (which we only use if for some reason the tap one isn’t working – it came in handy when our boiler broke!). I would absolutely love a new overhead shower to replace the rather horrible looking one on the wall. It has discoloured a bit and brings the whole look of the bathroom down. It would definitely look fab with a new one.

So there are the dreams of making our bathroom look a little less drab and a lot more fab. Little bits here and there make everything easier – though I shall still dream of a whole makeover one day!
