Living Arrows 2021 – Week 16 – Mummascribbles
“You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth”
All has been back to normal here as we were back at school last week while half the country was still on half term. It was weird seeing pictures all over Instagram of people still enjoying their holidays!
Zach couldn’t wait to get back to school, and Oscar couldn’t wait to start nursery – until he realised that he had to spend four hours without me and then the meltdowns started! He does love it though – after the initial few minutes of upset! He comes out every day happilly skipping down the road after having the most fun. Kids hey?!
My photo of Zach this week is a pinnacle moment for him. Reading is not his favourite thing to do. He loves stories, he loves listening to stories, but reading himself just isn’t his thing – even though he is really bloody good at it. And so getting him to read his school book on a regular occasion can be quite a challenge and has resulted in many arguments between us. But, he has finally found a book series that he LOVES. The however many storey high treehouse series (there are a bunch!) is his absolute fave and even when I have to do a little pushing to get him to read, once he starts, he reads and reads and reads! He much prefers reading to himself and so he tends to read it before he goes to sleep. It makes me so happy to see him enjoying a book and he picked up another one of the books when he’d finished that one (and scored 10 out of 10 on his quiz on it!).

My photo of Oscar was such a cute moment in the park on Friday, which is his day off nursery. We had dropped Zach off at school and I suggested we visit the park, and he was of course well up for it. And as we were walking through when he’d finished playing on the equipment, we stopped to look at the ducks and one came right up to him, circled his leg, and then waddled back off again! It was so cute and he couldn’t believe how close it had got to him!
