Living Arrows 2021 – Week 17 – Mummascribbles

“You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth”

Another week gone by – it goes so much faster when the kids are at school and nursery! This week was one we had been waiting for though, because I had appointments at the barbers for the boys! We have obviously recently moved and so I had to find out where the good places are to go. I was highly recommended one not far up the road, and also not far from school and nursery, and I managed to get them an appointment within a couple of weeks of contacting them. Oscar was booked in for 2.30 and Zach 3.30. So the plan was, to take Oscar, walk round the corner to school to get Zach, and then go back round with them for his appointment before walking home.

Oscar started moaning on the way to his appointment. It was quite hot and I had forgotten to take water. So I ended up carrying him in a frenzied rush to get there on time. But we made it and the lady was ready and waiting for him. When she was cutting his hair, it was like watching a sheep being shorn. I hadn’t touched his hair for weeks knowing that the barbers would be reopening and it had gotten so long. He was so good in the chair and felt a lot fresher once it had all been taken off. He also seemed to age very, very quickly and suddenly looked so grown up. Here are his before and after photos!

Then it was Zach’s turn. He had been a little less enthusiastic about his hair cut because he really likes it long and curly, but it had obviously got quite out of condition after we had butchered it throughout lockdown – it is not easy hair to cut! So I had told him that he could grow it if he likes, but under the guidance of professionals who would keep it in shape and condition after he has had it cut off. He was happy with this and went in excited to see the change. And what a change. Why do our kids always seem to look so much older when they get their hair cut? His beautiful face is there to see more of and he just looks so grown up. He loves his new cut and now doesn’t want to grow it anymore! Here is his before and after!

I’m hoping that this is now the start of regular professional haircuts and that I won’t have to get the trimmers out at home again! All credit to the professionals – I hadn’t realised what a hard job they did!
