Mummascribbles – A mothers day treat with Primula – Mummascribbles

Mother’s Day is happening next Sunday. It is soooooo early this year and I am not ready for it at all. I am also not expecting a lot myself. As I write this post, the other half is thousands of feet up in an aeroplane on his way to Texas again! He is there all week and will return on Saturday morning. This doesn’t leave him much time to make any arrangements. Hopefully I’ll get a card, but I won’t be upset if there is nothing on the day. If he’s anything like he was last time he returned, he’ll be absolutely out of it on Sunday morning. Of course, it should be me that should be getting the lie in, him that should be getting up with Zach. But I can’t do that to him. Last time he returned, he let me sleep in on the Sunday and when I eventually came downstairs he was almost in a deep sleep on the sofa! I may have a tiring week being the only parent but the jet lag really gets him!

There is of course one thing that he can do for me on Sunday morning. A little treat that would make me very happy and that’s to make me a special breakfast. I’ve even thought it all out for him and if he reads this post, he has step by step instructions. See, some of you may think this is a really simple food but I know that my other half has never made it. It is so easy in fact that it would be a breeze to let Zach help in the kitchen!

I am a massive fan of eggs, and in particular scrambled eggs. Usually when I make them, I make them plain. But ever since Primula sent me the latest batch of their set of cheese sauces, I have been thinking of different concoctions to make up to make my eggs even tastier. I’d never thought of putting cheesey sauce in my eggs but cheesey sauce with flavours has to be a winner right?!

So, darling other half – here is how to make yummy scrambled eggs with Primula cheese. And for those of you mummies who like the sound of this, I suggest you leave your web browser open with a mahoosive hint that you want this on Sunday morning!

What you’ll need

3 eggs (or however many take your fancy but I always use three) A splodge of milk A dollop of butter for melting Primula cheese of your choice (I used cheese with chive in mine!) 1 or 2 slices of bread, toasted with butter

A dollop of ketchup (if you so wish)

Method

First up, melt a dollop of butter in a saucepan until it’s sizzling hot. Whilst it’s melting crack the eggs into a bowl (or mug like I do) and whisk. Add a dollop of milk and whisk some more.

Once whisked, pour into the sizzling saucepan.

Note: The key to making a good scrambled egg is to keep on stirring. If you don’t keep on stirring, it’ll get stuck to the bottom of the pan, you’ll lose out on yummy egg, you’ll end up with burnt rubbery bits and the pan will be a nightmare to clean!

Next up, pop the bread in the toaster and toast – time dependent on how mummy likes her toast toasted. For me, it takes just a couple of minutes, for others, it may take longer!

When the eggs are cooked (which is as soon as they aren’t soggy any more), add your choice of Primula cheese and stir in. Whilst that is heating through, butter the toast and pop onto a plate.

When the cheese sauce is fully heated through with the egg, dish onto the waiting toast. Add a sprinkling of chives on top and voila, yummy cheesy scrambled egg! And if like me you like a dollop of ketchup, pop it on!

It is so so simple you could probably do it with your eyes closed!

The cheese and chive addition made this so yummy and I loved how creamy it made the eggs. I reckon this would work brilliantly with their cheese and ham tube as well. I don’t think I will ever have plain scrambled egg again!

Enjoy and have a happy mother’s day!

Primula cheese is available in Asda.
