Mummascribbles – InLight Artisan Luxury Skincare – a review – Mummascribbles
From very early on in this pregnancy, I have been itchy. Only in two areas – my boobs and my stomach, but it’s been really infuriating. There have been times where I’ve been sat at my desk, hand down my bra having a good old scratch. Luckily, no-one seems to have noticed but it was yet another thing I had to hide in those early days when nobody knew. When I was contacted by Inlight Skincare to see if I wanted to try their new New Mum’s Collection, I couldn’t get back to them quick enough. Featuring an Indulgent Body Butter alongside the Nyp & Baby Calendula Balm, I really hoped that this would help to rejuvenate my skin and calm this itchiness down.
Sent in a beautiful gift box and wrapped in tissue paper that I couldn’t wait to open (even though I didn’t want to spoil the presentation), I discovered that there was also a gorgeously soft organic cotton mitt. The whole set pleased me hugely and I felt really special having received it.
The restorative body butter
Inlight Body Butter features a high concentration of Vitamin E from evening primrose, jojoba, sesame oil, beta carotene from carrot oil and well-known rejuvenating transretinoic acid – an isomer of Vitamin A – from rose hip oil. It is suitable for use in pregnancy (yay), is formulated by skin expert Dr Mariano Spiezia and is 100% organic and free from synthetics and chemical fragrances. It even helps soften and prevent stretchmarks.
With the term body butter, I expected just that. I have used many body butters over the years and so I expected a cream. What I got was a gorgeously silky balm with a little wooden spatula for application. It also smelt divine as it has aromas of arnica, witch hazel, nettle and bilberry. You don’t need to use a lot of this balm as not only does it spread far, it is an oil-based formula which means it has a high concentration of active ingredients to make it really effective. I have now been using this for a couple of weeks, every morning on my boobs and tummy. It is amazing. On the day I started using it, the itching calmed down. As the days have progressed, it has eased more and more and whilst every now and then I still have to have the odd good scratch, I am no longer tearing my skin off! The baml sinks into the skin really quickly and I have no issues with putting clothes on straight afterwards. My skin feels lovely and smooth and smells divine. Honestly, I feel like a bit of a goddess massaging this into my skin.
I am so thankful that I have been introduced to it. I’m not sure I’d have had any skin left by now!
Nyp&Baby Calendula Balm
As you can guess, this is a nipple balm. I had originally told my contact that I wouldn’t really need the balm until baby is born but he kindly told me that actually, it’s really useful to use it during pregnancy because your nipples can get really dry and it’s good to keep them in good condition – especially if you are intending on breastfeeding like I am.
The balm is simple, you pop a bit out and rub it into your nipple as little or as often as you require.
Guess what though? Nipples isn’t it’s only forte. It also acts as a nappy rash cream. A total 2 in 1 product! And because it’s an oil-based formul, it repels water to protect against dampness – very important with just how much babies pee!
Once again it is 100% organic, and all ingredients in are food grade and do not alter the flavour of the maternal milk. It’s also free from synthetics, alcohol, water, lanolin.
This balm is really lovely to put on and keeps my nipples moist and itch free. Hoorah!
So, what’s the secret?
Every Inlight product features the Bio Lipophilic Matrix® which consists of a specific blend of pure organic, cold-pressed plant oils carefully nurtured for their high biochemical affinity to the lipidic human skin layer. These super concentrated oils are energized prior to production using a patent applied technique that harnesses the principle that all matter is alive (Quantum Mechanics) and uses ancient alchemy to heighten the oils’ vital force. This enhanced blend of oils forms the basis of every Inlight product.
So there you go. Now you know.
