Mummascribbles – Maternity nightwear from JoJo Maman Bébé – Mummascribbles

Throughout pregnancy, the obvious thing that we spend our money on, other than things for baby, is maternity wear. I was very lucky when I was pregnant with Zach as my old boss had a baby 6 months before me and when she was done with her maternity clothes, she passed them all on to me. I bought a few other bits but mostly I didn’t have to spend a fortune. This time round I had the same clothes and I did buy a few extra dresses in the sales. So I had a lovely selection of tops, trousers and dresses. There was something missing though…nightwear!

How could I forget nightwear?

In all honesty, up until now, I haven’t really needed any. The pj’s I have are all quite flexible and I always wear vest tops in bed and they fitted just fine. Suddenly though, at around 7 months pregnant, I realised that actually, my tops are no longer covering my expanding stomach and the trousers are actually digging a little where the waistband was sitting under my bump.

There couldn’t have been a more perfect time for JoJo Maman Bébé to get in touch to see if I wanted to try out some of their maternity wear and so I suggested that on this occasion, their nightwear would be just perfect! I didn’t quite consider the fact that I would then have to do a little photoshoot in the items!

I don’t know about you, but as I said above, in general I am most comfortable in pj bottoms and vests. I am not keen on having my arms covered and feel a bit restricted in bed. Honestly, it can be the middle of the winter and I’ll be in a vest top! So, my immediate go to was for this kind of nightwear from JoJo and I was in luck. I ordered a pair of maternity pyjama bottoms, two lace trim camisoles and then I did opt for a long sleeved pyjama top.

All of the maternity nightwear available at JoJo also doubles up as nursing tops which I absolutely love. They are really clever as they have a separate supportive section attached underneath and there is easy access to expose the nipple with the clips on the straps meaning that you don’t need to take the whole thing off – which considering I will once again be breastfeeding throughout winter means I should remain slightly warmer than I did last time!

This is also the reason I got the long sleeved one. I know up above I mentioned that I don’t really like long sleeved ones but in all honesty, there are going to be times when I really do need it. I do remember being pretty chilly when breastfeeding Zach and if I have to take baby downstairs in the night in order not to wake Zach up then I know I’ll be really thankful that I have this! This one has a special flap that you lift up for access to your boobs and therefore only expose the nipple for feeding. Clever!

As always, the quality of the products from JoJo is lovely. The material is wonderfully soft and in fact, the long sleeved one does feel really comfy, even to me who isn’t usually keen! They do seem to be pretty generous in size. At a size 12-14, I ordered a medium size and the trousers are a tiny bit loose – although at this stage in pregnancy, it’s better than them being too tight! The tops have plenty of room for growing and again, with those engorged boobs coming my way, I am sure I’ll be thankful!

I very much like these pj’s and will enjoy wearing them throughout the rest of this pregnancy and beyond.

I was sent a selection of maternity nightwear from JoJo Maman Bébé for the purpose of this review. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own
