Mummascribbles – Miniscoff – review and giveaway – Mummascribbles
One of the only benefits of being a full time working mum (and trust me there aren’t many!), is that all week Zach gets fed by others. My mum gives him his dinner when he is at hers and he eats very well at nursery on the two days that he is there. He does however require food when he gets home from nursery, to top him up because it’ll have been a while since he last ate.
When he gets home he is often tired and irritable and it can be really hard to find healthy options for him to have that don’t take a lot of effort to cook. His favourite things to eat after nursery is beans on toast and malt loaf (not together!), but there are days when maybe he hasn’t had as much to eat at nursery, and so needs something a bit more fulfilling. There isn’t enough time to cook for him because he also needs to be bathed and got into bed so I need quick, easy options to serve him when he’s feeling hungry. When the team behind Miniscoff got in touch to ask if I wanted to try out a selection of their pre-prepared food, it was like the answer I’d been looking for.
Taken from their website:
We set up our organic food company Miniscoff when my wife, Shoo, and I both had demanding jobs and a new baby and were struggling to feed our two-year-old, Freddy. Although in an ideal world we’d all like to cook from fresh for our kids, the reality is that working parents often don’t have the time or energy. But when we looked around for suitable ready meals, convenience always seemed to be at the expense of quality. So Shoo, a magician in the kitchen, had this mad idea and the rest, as they say…
It’s like they were made for me!
Over the last couple of weeks we have been trying these out and we are really impressed. I won’t lie and say that he ate every single mouthful but it’s not because he didn’t like them, more because he’s always too ruddy tired to eat.
What he did eat, he really enjoyed and I even managed to get him to eat some rice – which he always tells me he hates!
And for me – they are so easy. Out of the freezer, into the microwave for 6 minutes and bam – dinner is served! And, they are organic. The people at Miniscoff source top-quality organic ingredients to and all their meat and dairy are sourced only from British farms. The thing I love the most is that they are made in small batches by hand exactly as we would.
They have a really good selection of meals including Ali Baba’s Shepherd’s Pie, Curly Wurly Chicken, Broccoli Bill’s Pasta Pie, Salmon Ocean Pie along with several other things including pasta sauces which are brilliant. Zach isn’t a massive pasta fan (which is a massive pain), but I am hoping that with these tasty sauces and meals, he at least eats a little bit. What kind of kid doesn’t like pasta hey?!
Overall, I am really impressed with these meals and they really are so handy to have in the freezer. I love that they are organic and that they are like proper dinners (very unlike some of the ones that already exist by the big brands!). I would definitely continue to buy these – especially for the time when baby number two arrives and I may be struggling to get a meal together myself! Great back up option right there!
