Mummascribbles – Mummascribbles meets…Taught over Tea – Mummascribbles
Today we meet the lovely Hannah from Taught Over Tea. Thanks so much for taking part Hannah.
Tell me a little bit about yourself and your family
Hi, I am Hannah. I live in a very quirky place in sleepy old Somerset called Glastonbury. I am a mother of two, ‘Apple’ is 3.5years old and ‘Pea’ is 1 year old. I am proud to say I am also a wife, to the man of my dreams. (Seriously- I haven’t ever met a man as perfect as him- but sssh don’t tell him). We have been together for 6 long but blissful years. I am the proud owner of Taught Over Tea and have recently started additional blog posts about our ‘Trial home-ed year’.
What do you like doing to be you, when you are not parenting, working (if you do), or blogging?
I love to read – I read blogs, read books, read research. I also love taking time out from being a mum and spending some adult time with Mr L. We have such a laugh together! I also love to take part in a bit of early morning grounding, before my day starts.
What is your biggest achievement to date?
I probably should say my children BUT without my husband they wouldn’t be here. So him! Finding, being with and marrying Mr L.
From your own experiences, what do you find the hardest part of parenting and what is the easiest/most rewarding part?
Ooooh. The hardest part of parenting for me has to be the constant doubting myself. That guilty feeling that sits inside of you, as you debate in your head whether the decision you make is right. I really don’t like this and sadly I don’t think it quite matters who you are, everyone has this at some point. The most rewarding part of parenting is watching my children blossom into who ever they want to be. Such innocence is very enlightening to watch. And it is very very easy to encourage them to be free and open minded to who and how they want to be. I love this part of parenting.
Parenting in itself is no mean feat; how do you juggle everything you need to in order to get everything done on a daily basis?
Seriously?! I don’t think I do! I mean I must do, because everything gets done- however I’m not totally sure how. I am a full-time mum/home educator, part time employed and full time blogger. I love to make plans for every day so that I know what time I have to fit everything in. A good old Filofax is fantastic, failing that 2 or 3 calendars in the house can’t ever do you wrong. Stay organised folks and keep life simple.
Why did you decide to start blogging? Initially with my first blog, I started it so that when I was gone my children always had something to read, to hear me through. However since I’ve grown as a person, the sentimentality has gone a little bit and for now it’s more focused on trying to create a new career that utilises my passions and incorporates family life.
Tell me a bit about your blog?
My blog is a lifestyle/parenting blog. Whilst I don’t teach people how to be parents (I do not feel that I am at all in such a position to do so), I share my experiences on certain subjects i.e. home education, crafting tutorials, products and outings. taughtovertea.com is about me and my family unit and offering others in the same situation an insight into my life and opinions and hopefully giving them a giggle and or something to think about/do. I take part in a few Linkys that really suit my blog: #1day12pics #busydoinglife #whatsyourstory – they are great fun and pretty photo orientated, which is great for me because my Instagram is constantly being used!
What do you want your blog to achieve and where do you hope to see it go as it grows?
I have a very simple goal… I would like to start reviewing more products that can be used to help educate children of any age in a fun way/method – hopefully with the end goal of my blog being to the appeal of a vast range of parents.
What advice would you give someone who is thinking about starting a blog?
Do it… it’s hard work, but once you get started and you see your stats fly you will be addicted!
If you could have dinner with three people (dead or alive), who would it be and why?
1. Nelson Mandela – to hear him speak
2. Michael Jackson – to hear him sing
3. Woopie Goldberg – to hear her laugh. What an amazing table that would be!- can we order jelly??
Tell me three random facts about you
1. I still suck my thumb… eek!
2. I love the feel of rain on my skin.
3. I blame my addiction to chocolate as in iron issue and my husband has never doubted it!
