Mummascribbles – Mummascribbles meets…You Baby Me Mummy – Mummascribbles
I am totally over the moon to have the absolutely fabulous Aby from You Baby Me Mummy featured here today. Aby is the queen of blogging and it feels like having someone a little bit famous here (I totes got nervous when I first met her at BritMums Live two years ago!
Tell me a little bit about yourself and your family.
Hi, I’m Aby, a wife and mamma to Ava who is fast approaching 4 years old! We live on the Berkshire/Hampshire boarder with our two little dogs. My family is super small and so is my husbands, so we are pretty much self sufficient. My mum lives in Cheshire and SIL lives near to us, but apart from them that is pretty much it. I’m a full time blogger and my husband is a scientist.
What do you like doing to be you, when you are not parenting, working (if you do), or blogging?
To be totally honest I really love to work. So my ideal break away from family would be to go to a hotel to work! Ha ha! I realise I sound like a loser, but I have so much I want to do and the peace and quiet of an empty hotel room would be perfect! I love to read when I have time and take my daughter horse riding.
What is your biggest achievement to date?
Having a child and not going completely insane! Seriously, launching a blog when I had severe PND and making it a success super quickly despite my personal struggles.
From your own experiences, what do you find the hardest part of parenting and what is the easiest/most rewarding part?
I thought I would find the lack of sleep the worst thing, but I deal with that so easily. I usually have between 4-6 hours sleep a night and I’m fine. What I struggle with is the lack of silence, I used to hate silence, now the lack of it makes me want to cry! There are so many ‘best-parts’, every time Ava says she loves me, or hugs me, I melt. I love it when she learns new things and I love seeing her experience new things.
Parenting in itself is no mean feat; how do you juggle everything you need to in order to get everything done on a daily basis?
The aforementioned lack of sleep! I’m really driven and I totally love what I do, so when other people go to bed, I stay up working on projects, writing courses and trying to build my empire! (cue evil cackle as I plot world domination!). We all have the same number of hours in the day and it you want it enough you will find a way. If you don’t, you will find an excuse. I get it done because I want to, simple as that.
Why did you decide to start blogging?
Simply to record our family memories. I never thought anyone would read it.
Tell me a bit about your blog?
You Baby Me Mummy is one of the top Family Lifestyle blogs in the UK. I focus on blogging tips and help people grow their blogs, hopefully to the point they can make it their full time job too.
What do you want your blog to achieve and where do you hope to see it go as it grows?
I have already started to focus more on blogging, biz, productivity and mindset. So although I will still write family content, this is definitely the focus of my blog. I offer blogging courses, and so I want to grow these into the major income stream for my business.
What advice would you give someone who is thinking about starting a blog?
SEO your posts properly from the start! You know what, just do it; what will come of it you never know when you hit publish on your first post. Just do it. Blogging totally changed my life and it could change yours too. If you want some help you can sign up for my free productivity course (which also gives you access to exclusive blogging advice and a super supportive Facebook group), join Project Productivity now!
If you could have dinner with three people (dead or alive), who would it be and why?
1. My dad – he died of cancer when I was 10 so I never really knew him. It would be great to have a chat.
2. Mariah Coz – She is my biz guru
3. Kurt Cobain – er because hello, it’s Kurt Cobain!
Tell me three random facts about you
1. I hate bumpy things. Seriously, anything that is bumpy in a related pattern makes me shudder
2. When I was really young I went through a phase of wanting to be a fishmonger (I don’t even like fish!)
3. I used to be a Dressage judge
