Mummascribbles – My top 5 buys for a baby – Mummascribbles

When I was pregnant with Zach, I had no friends who had babies already and so everything that I bought was more on gut instinct than knowledge. This time, I not only have close friends who have recommended things but the whole blogging community who have reviewed and recommended some fantastic baby products. Here are my top 5 products that we are using with Oscar.

1. The Snuzpod

Now, despite the fact that right now, a lot of the night is spent co-sleeping and we are about to try out the cot, I still hold the Snuzpod as one of our top products. For the first three months, we had an amazing sleeper. I would either feed him to sleep and transfer him into the Snuz, or if he was already full, we’d pop him straight into the Snuz and he’d drift off merrily to sleep. Having him there right next to me has been a godsend for breastfeeding and he still does like to sleep in it, it’s just his cough kind of ruined things and I think he has gotten used to a big comfy mattress. Either that or he just wants to be as close to me as possible and we are doomed to have another co-sleeping child!

2. Angelcare Baby Bath Support

We used a different bath support with Zach which was good but not this good. This bath support is amazing and Oscar loves bathtime. It moulds the body brilliantly and he always looks super comfy. It’s also really easy for us to wash him in as it isn’t as slippery as others on the market so get doesn’t end up in a squashed position at the bottom! My only advice with this is just before you put baby in, splash the seat with the warm bathwater. The plastic seating can be quite cold and that’s pretty much the only thing that will make Oscar cry!

3. Poddle Pod

There are a lot of similar products on the market, some of which you can allow your baby to sleep on at night, some they can lie on their fronts. The Poddle Pod is one for daytime naps. It hasn’t been tested overnight and we haven’t used it for that but it has been fabulous to have positioned on the sofa for Oscar to have a nap in or to just pop him down when I need to do something. There have been times when he’s loved it and times when like all babies, he hasn’t wanted to be put down. But just today, I’ve popped him in it three times and he has nodded off to sleep all by himself. It was also really helpful when he had his really bad cough as I could pop him on his front for a snooze.

4. Amawrap

With Zach I bought a proper baby carrier which I have of course used with Zach. Of course, over the last four years, baby wearing has become very popular and thinking it would be easier to sometimes wear Oscar when out and about with Zach, I looked into wraps. The lovely Hannah from Budding Smiles was wearing the gorgeous Martha in an Amawrap at BritMums Live last year and it looked so comfy that I bought one. I have now used it out a few times and it is so lovely and Oscar loves it. It’s so easy to put on and get baby into and it makes carrying so much lighter than a carrier.

5. Ewan the Dream Sheep

OK so this is a bit of a cheat as we had one with Zach but second time round it is still a simply amazing product and so totally deserves a mention. I have laid watching Oscar be mesmerised by the red light and dreamily falling into sleep listening to the rain setting. Zach always loved the music setting so it’s funny to see them preferring different bits of it. This product is an absolute must buy!

So there we go, these are my five favourite baby products that are getting every day use in our house. What is your top baby product?
