Mummascribbles – Sales sales everywhere! – Mummascribbles

January sales.

They can be a thing of beauty or the stuff of nightmares. 

I never usually bother with sales but the other half had some bits he wanted and I had some birthday money to spend and so we braved the shops the day after boxing day. Zach went off for a 24 hour stay at my sister’s house and Oscar came with us (as he has to come everywhere with me).

I’d initially thought of going to Westfield in Stratford so we could take the train instead of drive but on Boxing Day it was absolute pandemonium there so we decided to head to Lakeside in Thurrock. Thankfully the traffic was fine getting there (Oscar is sometimes not good in the car) and within half an hour of being there we had bought two pairs of trainers (one each…buy one get one half price!) and a pair of boots for the other half. 

It was after this (and a gorgeous meal) that it all went downhill. I was looking for a new coat but I could not find one anywhere. We traipsed round the shops, round each section of the department stores and found nothing. Some of the shops were heaving. Clothes everywhere, items on wrong hangers or fallen all over the floor. It is the thing about sales that I absolutely hate. That people have no respect and treat the shops like Primark (sorry Primark, I truly cannot bear to shop with you because your shops are always such a mess!). 

Feeling a bit downbeat about not having managed to pick up a new coat (although I did manage to get a new pair of boots), we left and just to top it off, Oscar screamed for the entire 30 minute journey home. Like screamed. Until he made himself a little bit sick. And we were on the M25 so it’s not even like I could just pull over and sort him out! I was so thankful that there was no traffic because honestly, I don’t know what we would have done! 

Anyway, since our trip, I remembered the existence of Love The Sales and have been perusing the fashions online without having to fight through the mess of the shops and without having to battle through the crowds.

And well – it’s not exactly the winter coat I was looking for but I luuuuuuurve this! 

Oh how much easier it is to find sale stuff online!
