Mummascribbles – The mummy tag – Mummascribbles
I was tagged by the lovely Whimsical Mumblings in the mummy tag! These things are always quite fun to do so here goes…
Are you a stay-at-home or a working Mum?
For the next four weeks I am the working mum that I have been for the last three and half years. And then I have 2 weeks annual leave and then I’ll be on maternity leave. I can’t quite tell you how excited I am that I actually get to be home with my big man while awaiting the arrival of my little man. I know that it’s going to be damn hard work but it’s a time I’ve been dreaming about for quite a while now!
Would you have it any other way?
If I had it my way I would never have gone back to work! Unfortunately that wasn’t to be and finances meant that I had to. I hated the day that I ended up full time and my maternity leave cannot come soon enough!
Do you co-sleep?
Not at the moment but we did when Zach was a baby. He wouldn’t sleep anywhere but with us and so in order to get some sleep, he ended up in our bed, at one stage he would only sleep on top of me! When baby number two comes along we are planning on having a side sleeper so hopefully that will work for us this time round (we didn’t have the space first time!).
My Newborn must-have?
On the basis that I am going to have a newborn in just a couple of months, I should really know the answer to this. I guess for me it was lots and lots of muslins because I had a very sicky baby! The other half thought I was mad when I stocked up on so many at the beginning but he was thankful I had when there was so much sick!
How many kids do you plan on having?
I always planned on having two and that will most likely be the number we do have. I would love more though and the thought that this might be my last pregnancy leaves me feeling a bit sad. I guess we will see but finances and age will be a big factor!
Date Night – How often?
Haha – hardly ever! Although saying that, we do have a pretty lush meal out planned next week and have a spa day booked as well in which I think Zach will be having a sleepover at my sister’s! So yep, hardly ever but we are getting a couple in before bubs comes along!
What’s your child’s favourite TV show?
Oh god, there are so many and it changes so frequently. Right now it would have to be Ben & Holly, Peppa Pig and Shimmer and Shine!
What’s one thing you bought for your newborn and never used?
We bought this absolutely gorgeous Humphrey’s Corner outfit for Zach and when I was clearing out his newborn stuff when he’d grown out of it all, I came across it realising that we never ever put him in it! Good job we are having another boy – I will make sure it gets used this time!
Child’s favourite food?
Sausages! They are a guaranteed hit! Oh and also quiche. He LOVES quiche!
How many cars does your family have?
Just the one. The other half doesn’t drive so there’s no need for another and in all honestly, cars cost a lot of bloody money to run!
What’s your dream family holiday?
For us, any time away as a family is a dream. Both working full time means that we don’t exactly get to see the little man a huge amount during the week so anywhere we go that doesn’t involve us working is heaven. That said, I would love to take Zach (and the new baby) to Florida for obvious reasons but I want them to be old enough to actually enjoy it!
What’s your dream holiday without the kids?
We had a holiday when I was five months pregnant with Zach that was absolute heaven and I would love to go somewhere like that again. It was the most gorgeous resort in the mountains in Turkey. Being pregnant, I was extraordinarily hot (it was about 37 degrees every day!) and we basically spent the whole time sitting round the pool and the evenings were spent in the bar drinking mocktails! It was absolutely lush!
How has life changed since having kids?
It is hectic! Because we both work, we are always running around like headless chickens! Weekends are spent having as much fun as possible and the house is definitely less clean. That being said, it has changed for the better and having Zach here is just the best thing ever. He winds me up at times, he drives me potty, but he is the absolute love of my life. I cannot wait to see him become a big brother.
Finish the sentence – It makes my heart melt when…
He comes over and cuddles my tummy…cuddling the little baby brother he has yet to meet and getting excited when he gets booted in the cheek!
Huggies or Pampers
We used both. We found Huggies best when Zach was a newborn but soon they started leaking and Pampers became our go to. We tried a couple of others but Pampers always worked best for Zach, That said, I recently went to an event with Asda Little Angels and discovered how wonderful (and so much cheaper) they are. I have some packs here to try out on the new baby and will definitely be using them in the long term if baby likes them!
Have you always wanted kids?
God yes! Like forever. I have been forever broody and as soon as I give birth to one, I immediately want another. I would have a whole brood if I could!
Weight Gain – Before, During and After Pregnancy
Haven’t got a clue to be honest! I know that I am almost exactly the same shape now as I was in my pregnancy with Zach and love the fact that I look skinnier when I get to about 6.5 months because my bump is one big ball stretching in front of me making the rest of me look smaller! I lost weight pretty quickly after I had Zach from breastfeeding but I ate too many cakes and it soon caught up with me! I’d like to say I’ll try not to do that again but I do love cake!
Where do I shop for my kids?
I buy a lot of stuff from Pumpkin Patch. I don’t know if you have discovered them but their clothes are absolutely gorgeous and they always have huge sales on. I also like to take advantage of Mothercare sales and then we’ll buy the odd bit in M&S. We used to shop in TU in Sainsbury’s quite a bit since we were there doing our weekly shop but that stopped when we started food shopping online! I also used to love Matalan as there was one round the corner from our old flat but there isn’t one particularly close to where we live – not that I just walk past anyway!
What’s your favourite makeup and skincare?
I like to mix it up every now and then because I find that my skin gets used to something which then stops working. I love Benefit eye make up, L’oreal telescopic mascara and Soap and Glory skin products. That said, I think I am using L’oreal face creams at the moment as Soap and Glory stopped working!
Best thing about being a Mum?
Looking at this amazing little person and knowing that I created him. Sometimes I look at him, his legs or his arms or his little face and think, I grew that! Being a mum is bloody hard, especially so since he turned three but for every tantrum there is a delicious cuddle, for every tear there is a sloppy kiss. Being a mum is the best and I am so excited to bring another one into the mix!
